View Full Version : Where did you find your 240sx?

Looking for any outlets that I haven't thought of. I've searched all craigslists in a 300 mile radius, local paper, autotrader, cars.com, here, nico.
In looking for one, I've found a lot of people that aren't knowledgeable about their car, which is a red flag right off the bat. When I ask what code the CEL is, they said that it's been on for years and they don't know but it runs fine. Stuff like that.
Every one that I would've been comfortable buying, the owners wanted way more than they're realistically worth because they heard from someone that their car is "rare". $5k firm for a bone stock zenki s14 w/ 200k miles? GTFO.
Let me know if anyone knows of where to look that I haven't thought of.
Only looking for a 95-96 zenki by the way.
Thanks in advance

Try researching harder cause I know its not that hard to find one within a 500 mile radius ESP in Florida. I found a bunch in Florida for like 2500 for a 96 zenki with 160,000 from a dealer and I live all the way in SC.

PM me some? I literally thoroughly checked everywhere I listed. Nothing like that came up at all for me, at least not any 5 speeds

I found my S13 5spd here on Zilvia, and I am very happy with my find, but if I was looking for any generation 240 today, I'd look for an auto for the fact that it prolly hasn't been abused by some kid who saw Tokyo Drift and beat the hell out of it. Plus they're cheaper and you can always find a 5spd parts car for the swap.

Tallahassee must not be a popular spot for the 240 haha i drove a little over 2 hours to pick up mine in Chicago and towed it back. If your willing to take the trip you really should have no problem finding one they are pretty popular. It is good your taking your time though like 佩恩_ (http://zilvia.net/f/members/-_.html) said, be patient.

I found mine while working carts at Costco. Saw a super nice low mileage emerald green virgin kouki pull up with a FS sign. I literally waited by the guys car until he came out.... he said he was in a hurry so couldnt talk long but wanted only $3500 because he was moving back to Thailand.
Got his number and called him the next day to test drive it. Ended up getting a loan for it 2 days later. Loved this car like it was my only child ever since.
If you want a good deal just have to be patient and jump on it when you see it. Good deals only last a few days max.

Craigslist mostly.........watch out for the dreaded "drift tax"
all too many times inflating the hell out of these cars.
Ended up parting my car out cause I couldnt sell for the price I wanted :(

i searched for 2 years for a s13 hatch, and one day i see my old neighbor driving one to his job so i followed him there and we talked and he said 1100. then a month later he calls me and said he needs the money so 700 before chirstmas and its mine. finally made the money and went to get it, he gives me 100$ and said fill it up. How many people can say the bought their 240 with a excelent body owned by a 50 year old man (5 speed) for 600$. Patience is a vertue, wait for that great deal and jump on it.

A friend of mine had mine. I wanted it for the longest time but he ended up trading it to another friend of ours for a da integra. I then tried buying it from him but he wouldnt tell me a good price so i told hin id keep looking til one day he gives me a call and says "$1000 and we can sign the papers tomorrow. I just need it out my yard for another car and you can even pay me as you get the money." and thats where my money pit started.

sob stories also work lol something like "I am a student and I only have this much so spend yadayadayada"
lol if you did that to me, i woulda told you to GTFO, i don't care. i can negotiate, but don't waste my time with sob stories. i don't care about your life story, only about the green $$$.
anyways, i found mine here on Zilvia lol. overpaid, but it was exactly the one i wanted, 95 SE fully loaded, black/black leather, LSD, ABS, moonroof, etc...

i think this thread is going to turn into a "where did you find your 240sx" and not a "where can i look for a 240sx" lol
anyways....i got my 95 from a guy who owned it from new. but blew a piston through the side and had the car under a tree.
took me a year to convince the guy to sell it to me. he didnt wanna sell cuz he wanted to fix it up eventually.
in the end, i traded an s13 (which my dad got with a lien sale which was left on my dads business) for my now s14 :)
so yeah, patience :)

Found my current S13 on autotrader, at a small dealership, for 900 before taxes fees/ etc
90' SE Fastback 5-speed w/smaller moonroof. It was in pretty crappy shape then, now it is a whole new beast.
While I was doing all the paper work, about 6 other people called asking about the 240sx... I was the first person to actually see the car.
I only brought 900 with me and I completely forgot about tax/fees/etc. So the dealer person helping me out made it out to exactly 900!

I found mine on Zilvia. He was selling it as a whole car then offered to part the motor and shell, so i got the shell. I offered a low price and then he said he wanted $2000 (wich was all i was gonna pay) for a '95 w/ 5lug convo., rebuilt z32 brakes, brand new tires...all that ish. Went and got it that weekend. And he gave me a bunch of shit that he threw in the trunk...ac condenser, tail lights, corner lights, couplers...stuff like that
You can also find good deals on c-list from people that dont know what they have....When i was looking for an LS1 for my swap i found a wrecked 02 z28 with 53k for $2200. went and got it the next day.. when i had it on the trailer ready to leave the guy asked me how much these motor/trans' usually go for and i told him "this one with this mileage...around $4,000" you should have seen the look on his face...

found mine on craigslist...on accident actually. post said it had over 200k on it but i decided to contact him anyways. turns out it actually had 60k on the motor and over 200k on the body. no rust, fresh interior, completely stock 95 5 speed. takes time man.
ive been looking for one since summer of '08...and ive been car-less for the past year and a half since my other one died. patience and lots of craigslist time is needed lol. dont rush it, that perfect deal is out there somewhere

08-19-2010, 10:09 PM
found mine on 240sxforums... was looking around for about a year, but since i'm in school i didn't have much to spend.. kept looking and eventually found one in NJ, originally from South Carolina. The guy wanted $1600, but I kind of wanted to get the deal done soon, so before going out we agreed on $1000 as a starting point w/ no sound system if i picked it up that weekend, but he was too busy to take the sound system out so he tossed it into the deal as well as a whole bunch of other parts. I ended up paying $900 and about 24hrs of driving in less than 2 days for a rust free S14 that still made it all the way home. Now I have the perfect start for a project car.
Just keep looking around and the perfect car will eventually show up, and you might get a better deal than you expect (if you're lucky).

I watched craigslist for 7 months. I saw my car start out at 1700 and picked it up for 900 6 months later. It's the most solid s13 chassis anyone local has seen. It had to have been garage kept or came from further south than Kentucky as it has zero rot.
My 2nd one I picked up with an SR20, exedy clutch, vlsd, hicas (with the ultra rare steering rack), gauges, stereo setup for 1300. Dude needed money for rent and took my low ball. I found it on a local car forum.

I was at the skatepark, and a kid asked me if i wanted to buy his car. I actually was lookign for a car because my other ones transmission was going out. i got my 240 from a impound yard.. my buddy works for a towing company.. car had 160k on it.. best 1000 bucks i spent! look around at your local impound yards i always seem to find cars for dirt cheap.. depending on how hard the tow was or how long the car was at the yard for.. pretty much determines prices..

found mine on zilvia... i spent months looking for an s14 on cl, ebay, here... i started local since i didnt have a car to get anywhere. took months looked at some didnt convince me. until i saw two in LA and asked for a ride, went up there saw a kouki. trash. saw the second one, zenki so i was dissapointed but now im happy. came with extra parts, rims, wheels, springs/struts. Exactly what i was looking for. not swapped, not on coils. passed smog. I did over pay but i have came up on deals for parts so i think its even. CL is your Best friend.
just lowball people, they dont know you, you wont see them ever again, never hurts to ask. Worst they say no and you make a better offer.
and learn your neighboorhood's stock cars that old people drive. I was with a friend and saw a mint hatch. follewed the lady to the albertsons and he asked her if she sold it. she said 600. auto 109k twin cam. he was about to but didnt want to deal with the 5 speed swap.

I found mine on craigslist in Columbia, SC. I found quite a few and each one I tried to buy ended up being sold the day I wanted to pick it up. I was finally able to get one. I just performed frequent daily searches on craigslist and contacted the seller as soon as he posted it. I was able to get mine 95 S14 for $2,200 and the seller was even kind enough to deliver it for me for free (we were 40 minutes apart from each other). Just be patient and keep looking. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I think it's a pretty good deal too, especially considering it has a full wide body kit and looks like it was mounted pretty good (from the sides, at least). I also prefer a stock one. Mine was stock when I got it, except for the exhaust (which sounded awesome) and the limited slip differential.
Good luck finding one in Pittsburgh, I grew up and have family in the Pittsburgh area and I think I only ever seen 1 on the streets.

I fond my S14 on Craig's List and got really lucky.
It was an S14 with 150k miles owned by a college professor, 90% highway miles, and year old stock paint job, and never had been dogged.
Payed $5k for it back in 07 when the hype was up because of F&F tokyo drift or some shit.

Lots of patience and time. I looked for about 5 months on ebay, craigslist, the paper. You name it. I went on craigslist one day and found a white 1990 240sx hatchback. Completely stock. One surface rust spot. $2,000. Runs like a champ.
