I got this turbo from someone online. I was going to trade it for my solid T25G, but decided not to because the turbine side is flanged for a T3, and my turbo manifold is flanged for a T25.

So I was gonna hold onto it for this guy and ship it for him to whoever bought it.

But I'm still unsure if I want to just keep it and pay him for it or not. I know it's a T28 w/ a ceramic compressor wheel. Can anyone tell me more about this turbocharger?

Next to a T25G...

There is a chipped turbine blade... is that serious?

I did a little digging and what I think I have here is a T28BB w/ ceramic comp. wheel from an RB??DET.

I take it the S15 BB turbo has a T25-style turbine inlet flange and a totally different turbine outlet flange (more like an SR's T25G)...?

it looks like an R33 RB25 Series 2 (IIRC due to the compressor wheel) (RB20's tap the housing for the W/G)

RB25 Series 1 (Left) RB20 (Right)

Ok so what about the other questions... the compressor wheel is ceramic, is that a performance limiter? If so, how much? Also what about that chipped turbine wheel? And how hard would it be to swap the turbine housing over to one with a T25 style inlet and outlet?

Or... is it even worth it?

Yes the ceramic wheel is a limiter, It was designed to help spool faster but will grenade after 14psi (from what Ive read)

The Chip: im not sure exactly what would happen, Possible causing the CHRA (center cartridge) to be unbalanced and prematurely fail

Only way to bolt that up to your engine would be to change the Exhaust manifold to a T3 flange manifold

Me I dont think it worth it, though im not to sure of the gains, obliviously a few more Hp over the T25 but as far a money and time i dont think so.

Id just buy that Disco potato turbo or an S15 turbo. but it all depends on your power goals

Yeah disco potato is pretty much teh s3x.

I guess this thing will find another home. And for now I'll hang onto my solid T25G and accompanying manifold. Thanks for the input.

The black is true

But the red is false

you can use a t25 to t3 adapter
