Terminals in the combination switch were bent and corroded.

The front parking lights work when turned on, so there isn't anything wrong with the bulbs or corrosion on the housing.

What do the front parking lights have to do with the front turn signals?

I'm not talking about the corner lights.

I'm saying when I turn the parking lights on, the front turn signals illuminate but do not respond to blinking.

I can't tell what's going on in the bumper light assembly. Is it a single dual-filament bulb or two separate single filament bulbs in each light?

It would be wise for you to open up and check.

It's one dual-filament bulb, and I replaced the bulbs a few days ago.
Basically I'm looking for some answers or suggestions for problem prone areas, not a write-up.

At this point I'm just getting a little frustrated with some of the problems the car has right now because I feel like they should be easy fixes. The previous owner never spent the time to fix the problems, so now I need to.

Any time you troubleshoot electrical issues it's going to be a massive write-up. There's no way around it.

You need to check at least 5 things even before you ask. There is no simple answer for wiring and electrical issues.

The sooner you realise that I am one of your best hope for fixing the problem the better. Other people who can help you won't because they feel that your issue is remedial, and you're stupid for not knowing.

Do you have the correct bulb holder meant for a dual filament bulb? Are there 3 wires coming out of the bulb holder or 2?

If no, go get the right bulb holder.

If yes, is the high intensity prong of the bulb holder getting 12V+ when the turn signal is activated?

If yes, the problem is in the bulb. Do you have the right bulb?

If no, where is the turn signal wire losing power? Probably somewhere in the fender harness.

Trace the wire all the way back to the flasher relay and flasher. Where do you have power and where do you lose power?

Find the short. Fix the short.

I was basically looking for a trivial answer, so I posted.


There are 3 wires coming out of the bulb holder. I will need to borrow a friend's meter to check how much power it is putting out.
It's an 1157 bulb.

Basically my friend told me that the fender harness had never been rubbed through, which had me scratching my head as to what the problem could be. I'll pull apart the harness to check it out.


Thanks again for posting, you've eliminated any worries I had. I was thinking there was something that I didn't know, but it looks like I'll have to trace it back to flasher.
