okay, this may be a stupid and irrelevant question (im sure it is), but i never got why searching with "titles and descriptions" and unchecking the box were different...i mean, i get what it means (maybe i dont), but dont understand the search results it yields...i usually search with "titles and descriptions" with the assumption that i would get more comprehensive results...

for instance, i bought this wallet i like and want to get one for a friend and am checking prices:

searching with titles and description:
jimi wallet items - Get great deals on Entertainment Memorabilia, Clothing, Shoes Accessories items on eBay.com! (http://desc.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=jimi+wallet&_sacat=0&_sop=10&_odkw=jimi+wallet&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&LH_TitleDesc=1&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_rdc=1)

results are totally off tangent...whereas searching without titles and descriptions:

jimi wallet items - Get great deals on Clothing, Shoes Accessories, Sporting Goods items on eBay.com! (http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=jimi+wallet&_sacat=0&_sop=10&_odkw=jimi+wallet&_osacat=0&bkBtn=&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_rdc=1)

totally spot on with auctions i wasnt even aware of until today when the box was accidentally left unchecked...wouldnt you think searching with "titles and descriptions" would yield those results or the sum of those and the other results put together? i dern git it :tweak:

im sure its something super simple that im not picking up on...someone publicly embarrass and own me...

btw, sorry mods, i know ebay links are prohibited, but im just trying to provide references and prove a point...

well, im not sure if i got your question, BUT, heres my 2c LOL

when you click description, some sellers tend to put more info, that way, their listing appears on more searches. cuz its incorporating the "description"

the title search alone, only searches whatever the seller put on the title lol

dunno, hope that helps

its like on craigslist...

you have the title of whatever your selling...

but in the description, you put all kinds of shit so it appears when someone "searches"

ebay search sucks. You miss one letter of a word and the search system is not smart enough to figure it out and will return messed up results or no results at all

It does suck. I think a better way to look at it is checking the box will search "titles AND descriptions". I wish you could search within a category. Like you could go to a certain section, "wheels" for example, then just search for R33 GTR and it would pull up R33 GTR wheels and wheels that fit on an R33 GTR, etc. Instead, you get some poster of an R33 GTR from halfway across the sight and a bunch of other crap.

c'mon, admit it, you end up buying that poster at the end of the search :bowrofl:
