Hey Zilvian's just to clarify Ive searched & posted on a few other threads but no definitive answer. Flame suit's near by just in case lol

Well I need help finding out & fixing a few issue's with my recently purchased 5spd 97 240sx. Mainly what i want to know is if the car used to be AUTOMATIC & why my AIRBAG light stays on and my reverse lights don't work at all. The problem is that the airbag light is on, it doesn't blink either another member told me to try & reset the light but after about 15 tries its not working. Also checked plugs & everything seems in order. I also have a check engine light that throws codes:

32-EGR system (currently being looked into)
77-Rear o2 sensor (waiting for pay day to swap out)
103-Park / Neutral position switch <(shouldn't this only be for automatics?)

Now i have 2 pics to help out as well as ECU info, i wana find out so i can fix the issue & get the proper wire harness & ECU (will doing this also maybe turn off my airbag light maybe somehow). Any and all input would be helpful i just wana have the car in proper working order & not cause damage if any down the road

ECU shows: A18 B92 G00 432 5

In this pic i wana know weather or not im pointing to the park neutral plug?

Also can anyone identify this & what its for?

You can help us a lot by giving the following info:

a) What engine is currently in the car?
b) What transmission is currently in the car? It looks like a 5-speed but not sure what kind.
c) What ECU is currently in the car? Auto or manual ECU? SR or KA or what?

if you read the 5 speed swap DIY you'd figure out what that stuff is for.

looks like you car was an auto at one time ... that plug goes to the shitfter assembley and i think that other "thing" went to the manual disengauge thing when there was no key in ...... hope that helps a bit ps that plug shouldnt affect anything ... you prolly have a looped nss in you engine bay by the fuse box search 5spd swaps for pics

Sorry my fault

Cars got a 5 spd KA24DE & im assuming the ECU is also from a 5 spd. Previous owner doesnt know anything bout the car so im hoping to find answers here

Ill have to look that up then, thankz

Just to clarify a bit I googled the ECU #:

A18 B92 G00 - turns out its a 95 5spd ECU & the one i need is:

A18 F43 G16 - which is a 97 5spd ECU

Found these number on Jim Wolfs website heres a link if anyone else needs to research their ECU to see if its the right one for their car or just need clarification:

Also by doing this do you guys think it'll have any effect on possibly turning off my airbag light or should i just get that looked into at a dealership/shop?

If you have that whip, then it was definitely an automatic. You might want to take it out. It was attached to the shifter assembly and goes to the ignition cylinder and it locks the key so you cant take it out, or something like that. Very easy to take out.

If your reverse lights dont work. It's because who ever began the swap never finished it.

Another clue is to look under your hood. Passenger side fender. Look to see if you have these 4 plugs. Those by the fuse box. Those are the automatic transmission plugs coming from it.

good site: S14 5-speed Transmission Swap - Electrical Connections (http://www.ka24development.com/cwilfert/S14_tranny_swap_electrical.html)

Another thing. Can you start it in gear? I'm asking to see if you have a clutch pedal switch. Prevents the car from starting with the clutch engaged. I left mine out.

Hopefully I was right. If not, oh well.

^^^^

ill look into that website but yeah figured out it was originally automatic so i wana change out the whole wireharness so i can get it all running right. Also what do you mean exactly bout the previous person not doing the swap right? is there something i can look into to fix the reverse lights & so forth?

He means whoever did the 5spd swap didnt do it right because your reverse lights dont work. Look at the DIY 5 speed swap and youll see everything you need to know.
