Hey guys, ive never really posted here all that often but ive been lurking forever.
Im about to buy my first car and i found what i think is a pretty good deal, but i want some opinions.
Im gunna call the guy at some point today and talk to hmi about it and see what he says. It seems pretty solid. My main goals with it is to daily it for a while, and save up money to make it look better and run as well as it possibly can.
Im not looking for some track monster, just something to get me to work and back, cruise around town(looking good. not in some honda like every other kid in my town) and be able to have fun with.
Also, please dont be a dick and buy this car before me. lol

Find out if that turbo is a knock off turbo. If it is, the car may be in need of repairs soon. Find out if it is tuned and have supporting mods for a turbo. Basically, the car has the potential to be a money pit in repairs and also the potential to be a decent buy.

Yeah, ya know thats actually pretty much exactly what im thinking. If it is done right, then it should be fine. But if its not, then there could be some trouble. I will call him today and see what he says.

If you want a reliable car that looks good you should run the other way.
I would never buy a car from a craiglist ad with one big run-on sentance.

I wouldn't exactly want that for my first car let alone a daily, sure it may seem like a good deal being it's turbocharged, however it doesn't seem to be the cleanest setup and it's much better if you find an unmolested car and add your touches to it as you learn more.

Don't pick up someone elses project. Just find a clean one and start from there especially if its your first car.

You can easily pick up a clean paint s chassis bone stock for 2 grand. Nasty low offset wheels and suspension and you'll be killing kids on your block no problem.

Looked around for 6 months with the same dilemma, for my first 240. i ended up settling with a bone stock, clean 91 S13 SE Hatch. Paint was amazing, and it was dealership kept since day one, with only one owner for $2250.
Let me tell you, it was most definitely worth it to start from scratch.

but i did just get off the phone with him and he was actually driving it as we spoke.
it sounded pretty good from what i could hear over the phone(not much, but i could hear the turbo spooling and the bov)
he said it has other supporting mods but i forgot what he said. im goingt o most likely go test drive it tomorow after work and i will take some better pics then. for anyone who cares, i will update tomorow

if its a money pit, itll be your money pit.
if its a win, then itll be your win.
take a mechanic (knowledgeable) to check out the car, itll be more help than a forum with members 2000 miles away. :D

so i talked to the guy again today. apparently he used to work for a high performace shop so thats good.
he said the engine has about 35,000 on it, and the chasis has about 160,000. but whtever. as long as the frame isnt rusted thorugh, i could care less. he has done several supporting mods for the turbo. hes had it retimed, new rockers/rollers, ignition, ect. he has limited the boost to 7 psi cus he knows the stock internal wont hold up to alything more. im gunna hopefully test drive it either tomorow or sunday.
if all goes well, hopefully i will be the proud owner of my first 240, and my first car.

sounds good, hopefully no mysterious problems are encountered good luck
did you ask the all-important question? "Why are you selling it?"

Arro.... It says in the ad that he has a baby on the way and can't afford to be building this car, Just give the car a very thorough once over. If you have a friend who has a better understanding of S-chassis cars bring him with you to look at it.
Also I didn't see that you said anything about fuel system upgrades, you might wanna see if he did anything there as well. It is a good deal, but you'd more then likely be better off buying a stock 240. Goodluck no matter what you do.

Make sure he has the title and make sure to run a CarFax on the VIN number for any mysterious accidents you may not know about. Personally, I would pass on this and wait for a clean stock ride. KA24E-T just screams trouble to me.

If it's KA-T with no fuel upgrades, and no tune of any kind? then no. No matter how fun it is to test drive, don't get suckered into that.
