Last September, a Long Island-area Nissan GT-R (http://jalopnik.com/314347/tokyo-motor-show-nissan-gt+r-revealed) owner awoke to find all four of his wheels missing (http://jalopnik.com/5367991/even-nissan-gt+rs-get-their-wheels-stolen/gallery/). Now it's happened in Queens. It's a regular crime spree. Save the GT-R wheels? More*ยป (http://jalopnik.com/5608529/new-yorks-nissan-gt+r-wheel-thief-strikes-again)

@ ~$2k for those wheels each, plus the tires... yeah, there would be people willing to buy them and the tires on them at a "discounted" price.

those'll look like crap on an s chassis...iirc 19" stock. probably might look good on a G/Z chassis though.

if you can afford a GT-R I would think you could afford wheel locks and a heated garage to store it was well.

seems like someones trying to be baller but isn't, kinda like driving a GT-R and living in an apartment complex, or the ghetto.

and park a $90k car on the curb. . .

if I'm driving to see a friend and going to have to park on the curb, I'm not driving anything I don't want getting stolen to begin with.

This isn't a hand crafted Ferrari - it's a Nissan.

Thats the owners own fault. I wont even park my 240 on the street in Queens, for him to expect his GT-R not to get fucked with was just foolish.

Let me say this AGAIN. . . a $90k Nissan, which if the guy is ballin outta control then fine let him go buy another set of wheels and tires. I could care less. But he's a moron for parking something that EXPENSIVE on a curb.

i would assume because it would take more time than they would want to risk, i mean with an impact gun taking off the wheels is like a 2 minute ordeal, taking the brakes off is a little bit more involved

not really with an sawsall.... anyone who's very mechanically inclined could have them off fairly quickly.

That being said, its really a shame people are doing this... its always the same low income ghetto people too.

They should start cutting off fingers as punishment instead of useless jail time

it's insurance fraud so they can get aftermarket wheels for free.

i know right, think about the wheels you can get for 2k a peice, some bad ass works, volks or maybee even some nice ass 20 inch chrome dome ashantis LOL! <---only if the tires dont fall off from the massave ammounts of geees going around the corner to get to that 'lika sto!" (liquor store)

240sx123$
08-25-2010, 07:01 AM
If I was going to do that to my own car for the insurance money, I wouldnt set the bitch down on a ROCK onto the sideskirt. Id at least have it supported by something that wont break... control arm, body itself, something... not a sideskirt. I think these were legitimately stolen. (lol @ that oxymoron)

Theres a pair at a UpGarage local to me, and they are nice and expensive! After seeing one in person the car is fine the way it is, but after you own something I guess OEM is boring. I could see some fraud going on with this though.

^^What Skyline?

Souljahzs13
08-25-2010, 11:49 AM
It must have been the same guy that took the other set of GTR rims a while ago. If the rims cost that much, I could imagine how much the brake system would go for... I bet the scum bag would have taken the brakes too but probably got unlucky with someone passing by seeing the shady activity

Was the skyline you were gonna slap 15's on, hiding behind the GTR?

so, in your mind, people who buy expensive cars should never get out of them except at home? people should live in crippling fear of petty theft?

holy shit, haha I think I seen this by my boy's house in Bayside like a month ago.. Sorry to hear man, I was laughing but at the same time felt bad for that owner. It was a sight. They put big rocks to support the car not even bricks. I agreed, there are a lot more car theft in queens now, especially in good neighborhoods.

If it was insurance fraud i would of put it on bricks or jack stands, so it atleast didnt mess the damn undercarriage up.
