I have a set of 300zx wheels I've become very fond of. They were originally chrome plated and in great shape but after many seasons of midwest weather the chrome has started flaking. I plan to strip the chrome and polish the aluminum like i do on motorcycle wheels. But i have never stripped chrome plating before. Any ideas?

its really tough. you can spend a shit ton of hours grinding away at it or you can pay a chromer $50+ an hour to try and do it

it uses toxic chemicals to strip chrome. pay a professional to do it

has to be acid dipped
or abrasive sand blasting

yep, BUT the price you're gonna spend to strip the chrome, you can buy another set of z32 wheels that arent chrome.

+1 on buying another set. Ebay and Craigslist are your best friends :)

i need to get these bolts for my rims chromed, or polished. i asked a jeweler and it came pretty close to the same price as buying new ones (roughly 300$).

Call your mother, I swear I've heard more than one person say she can suck the chrome off a wheel.

ZING!

Sorry, I'm an opportunistic hunter.

Never chrome a bolt that is needed to keep something important from falling apart. Chrome weakens the metal it bonds to... Bad idea for wheel bolts.

+1 for daily knowledge, I actually assumed it made it stronger by adding material...good stuff.
