First off before I start I want to say I do not want this to turn into a flame war.

So here is the deal, I have in my kitchen a mostly complete S1 RB25DET and I am looking to either put the mofo in my car, or part it out and use the profits on a 26... well part out all of it but trans. You get the idea.

The options are simple, restore and rebuild the 25, completely rebuild.

or

Part the mofo out and go 26.

Keep in mind, in my mostly complete set I have a GReddy Intake Mani, Q45tb, ecu, pretty much everything but turbo, turbo mani and harness. I'm torn my zilvian brother's and sister's. Aid me in my decission.

It's a serious question because i'm torn, same reason why I'm not going off what I want to do. I change my mind more than clothes.

You have already got a near complete swap with you already. Why would you go through the trouble of parting it out to buy another engine, which you would probably end up rebuilding anyways. My vote is to stick with the 25.

hellaflush240
08-08-2010, 04:25 PM
rebuild it, you wont be able to part it out for that much

Go to home depot and get some cardboard and write down who you are, what you do, why you are still alive, when you plan to die, and write down which was your first engine, how many cylinders it had, what was it's bore and stroke, how it was modified or not. Then write down your future goal, what engine you have with you now, how you many horses you would like to have at the wheels, how many mpg you like to get at WOT and cruise, and bla bla bla.
Then at the end write down, will trade RB25DET engine for RB26DETT, please help a poor 240 owner. Go to jiffy lube and have them drain some oil on your clothes, then go stand behind a car that is doing a burnout and get all that sticky tire on your clothes. This will make you look more professional at your job, and people will know you are not faking this, now go to some busy intersection and hold the big cardboard with all that stuff you wrote down. Maybe do a little dance, get some car parts and juggle them while you stand at an busy intersection. Don't take my advice offensive, I'm just saying this is one possibility. And when someone looks at you, start chewing a connecting rod and spitting oil out.

where did you get this RB? without turbo? Stock ecu or chipped?

RB's don't belong in 240's...

You should have left an option to vote that you buy an s-30 z-car and drop the RB in that! Now that's a good home for an RB!

You say go big or go home, yet you say CA18 ftw? That is the most retarded shit I have seen in a while. ca18 is not big, or bad. I do not see how this makes any sense.

well I saw that but it sounded fishy enough to be the engine out of my old RB powered S13 that was stolen. So I did not comment on the kitchen comment. LOL

It was not stolen from Hollywood. It was stolen from a shop in Azusa. The car was stripped to the bone and abandoned in Chino two days later and nothing ever showed up. Oh and someone easily could have shipped the engine to Kansas.

Never underestimate people. Oh and remember this guy has the engine in his Kitchen. If that is not strange in and of itself.

hmmm. Do what you want?? I'd keep the RB. Why downgrade to a SR/KA? That's uber dumb imo. And a 26 is a HUGE waste of money. Don't bother..

What about V motors? V6 (VG/VQ) or V8 (VH/VK/LSX)

I instantly thought of the episode of Top Gear where the dude had built a race car in his kitchen and had to knock the wall down to get it out.

Stick with the 25.

I'd go with keeping the RB25 since you're almost finished putting it together. An RB26 is a SERIOUS amount of cash for parts and to maintain.
