View Full Version : Water locked engine, now engine is ticking! Please diagnos

Just as it says, I ran through a puddle and sucked enough water into my engine to stall it out. I took out the spark plugs and cranked then engine for a while. Replaced plugs and now the engine ticks pretty loud. It sounds as though something in the cylinder head is tapping something else. What do you think it is, and how long before The engine gives out completely?
I just drove it about 30 miles round trip at 45mph without a problem, so hopefully it will last for a while until I can sell it.
Shameless plug: look for my thread in the for sale forum. $1000 1990 fastback

this is a time bomb. you have either bent a valve, or tweaked a rocker arm (KA24E's have them), or worse. if you want, try to pinpoint the sound yourself...otherwise take it to a mechanic who can.
a 1990 240 without a decent-running motor will *not* fetch $1000 unless it is really really pretty.

No, the post date and time are ABOVE the post you are reading. I posted the first reply "07-30-2003 01:10 PM". Somehow you just posted a reply on "01-27-2004 05:21 PM"

weird. I haven't done any searches in a long time, and I don't go flipping through past the 2nd page...
so I wonder how it came to be that I posted on a thread this old..
