Guages- Electrical vs. Mechanical.... Preferences?

Hey there, i was just wondering what the difference is between the electrical guages, and the mechanical guages. I have an idea i just wanted to make sure i wasnt completely off base here. Are there any of you whom are running some guages in your cars that could give me a heads up on this? Pics of where youve got your guages set up would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

i think the biggest factor is whether you want to run oil/coolant/fuel lines inside the cockpit. i mean imagine an oil hose blowing off and spraying oil all over your interior at 60psi? when i installed my sensors, one of the hoses did blow off, and before i managed to turn the car off was spraying for about 4 secs. my oil level went down about a quart
