i was just curious, today someone told me that you should never take apart a rb motor because they were engineered so well, and the hp capabilities go down, this makes absolutely no sense, i would think the complete opposite......... no sense at all?

Correct. No sense at all. Even remotely.

That completely blows my mind. By that logic, your friend must have never in his life heard the term "build the motor."

Or "rebuild"

Or "upgrade"

The RB series motors are literally the worlds most perfect indestructable engines. Dont ever tamper with them.

yeah but what if you wanna go through and replace every gasket and recheck every value to make sure all is in order, nothing is perfect, what if you have a spun bearing, how would you ever know without tampering with it

Its funny how people like to pass on useless information that has no logic or backed up prof of what they are saying. Whats even funnier or maybe sad is that they actually believe what there saying is true lol

Talking to me or the OP?

I'm just making fun of the OP and his friend. In their case, its not useless information, but just idiotically wrong information that make all car enthusiast and forum members look bad.

If your smart enough to know what a "Nissan RB" Engine is, then you should be smart enough to know that those statements are just @#%king retarded.

As for the Chrysler RB, there is nothing wrong with knowing that Chrysler at one time mad an engine family called "RB" which means "Raised Block" and that included the 383 and 440 engines who served as work horses and great performance motors.

In 20 years people will be rolling there eyes at you (Assuming your still an enthusiast) when you mention a Nissan SR or RB as they are asking if you can take apart a Flux Capacitor or a hybrid transmission.

True that... it's like E85.. first hits the market and everyone is started quoting whomever said "omfg, it will rot your engine, loose power and your car will DIE!!"

Like 5 years latter its FINALLY catching on that you can do a lot with E85.

KA-T is another, up until maybe 2006 90% of the people on the forums thought the engine would explode if you put more then 200hp on it!!

I kid you not, I can dig up posts on 240sxforums and NICO about that crap... it's like wow... and none of them had ever build one... just quoting what this one guy said and he was just saying what he read which was written by this guy that knew someone that tried... who really owned an SR importing business or something.
