Hey guys, got an odd problem here, hoping someone else has ran into the same thing.

I bought ebay spline drive lug nuts for my wheels because regular nuts wont work. Link to ebay Here (http://cgi.ebay.ca/12X1-25-SPLINE-TUNER-LUG-NUTS-CHROME-16PC-240SX-S13-S14-/330455884968?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cf0b4a4a8)

I've since on and offed my wheels three or four times, and have broken 3 wheel studs, including one of the studs I replaced. Every time the wheels are installed they are hand torqued to 80 ft lbs. The studs are breaking when trying to remove the lug nuts. I never had an issue with the stock wheels and studs.

Has anyone had this problem with ebay lug nuts before? I'm thinking I'm just gonna switch to McGard's, since I never had a problem with them on my FC.

Dirk

Did you ever replace the wheel studs? Wheel studs will snap if they do not get pressed into the hub all the way.

What wheels do you have?
Check the taper on the lugs and your wheels.... make sure they fit correctly. If the taper is off that will also snap studs.

My suggestion is to invest in some ARP wheel studs (I think it's part number 100-7708 for S13) and get some 12x1.5 pitched lug nuts with the correct taper for your wheels. They are much stronger than stock/nismo/cs/peak studs

Do you use a impact or a lug wrench?

use antisieze

I'm using antisieze now. Ordered Muteki nuts, since I really don't want to snap the studs in my wheel spacers.

Wheels are XXR 962's (I know....)

Wholegrain, you'll notice in my first post I always hand-torque my wheels.

az240, thanks so much for the info.
