Purple power all over the engine, let soak for about 5 min. &nbsp;Scrubbed it with a little detail brush (Stiff nylon bristle, little larger than a toothe brush). &nbsp;Rinse w/ hose. &nbsp;Soak the parts that still aren't clean w/ more purple power, scrub more.. &nbsp;rinse, repeat. &nbsp;Once shes all clean, get a sponge and some tire bright stuff. &nbsp;(Pretty much anything will work) and rub it into anthing rubber or plastic. &nbsp;Start car, drive around for 10 min or so to dry everything off. &nbsp;Tada. &nbsp;Took me about 2 1/2 hours total.

no it definalty works.. i did the same thing.. my engine was soo clean, and it's easy to maintain as well, just dont' use armorall wipes of anythign armorall based whhen cleaning the rubber unless u paln on cleanign all the time, b./c it'll crack. it stays looking really nice if u do it like 2 x a month, but finally winter rolled around and i let it go for a while, i plan on doing &nbsp;it again as soon as i get my car back.. lnice engine bay skychimp

i got mine steamed cleaned at the car wash for $30, then got a free car wash - they used maguiers(sp) quick detailer to give the black components a &quot;wet&quot; look
be careful using a hose in your engine bay - you could short your electrical system

dude you sprayed water on your engine....why do you think you have a hood. to keep the water out. &nbsp;no wonder the spark plug got fucked. &nbsp;at most use a damp towel. &nbsp;looks good though

I just made sure I wasn't spraying any of the wiring--it's pretty noticable where it's &quot;bundled&quot; together so I just avoided those areas and wiped them with a towel.

Nice CA18, &nbsp;whats all done to it? &nbsp;looks like you have a front mount intercooler. &nbsp;Maybe the turbo off the sr20 s13 silvia but I can't tell. &nbsp; I see an HKS intake, and a blitz super sound blow off valve. &nbsp;Got another question, does that blue cable on the right of the power steering reservoir go to a boost controller?

</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>If you disconnect your battery you can randomly spray anything in there. Just wait a couple hours before you drive (or reconnect the battery) to let everything dry really well. You can submerge a computer (well, maybe not your harddrive) and it'll work find as long as its completely dry once you give it power again.

Yeah, I replaced that shitty old interstate battery with a nice Optima. &nbsp; No maintainance. &nbsp; And its a lot prettier. &nbsp;(of course, for $100 it better be)

Minime - not that big of a deal to spray water on your car. &nbsp; Most stuff is really fairly waterproofed from the factory. &nbsp;I sprayed a LOT of water on the valve cover, because I had to scrub it about 4 times.. &nbsp;so I was happy that was all it was.

Krunko - I'm not sure where your at. &nbsp; It may be a &quot;Southern&quot; thing. &nbsp; It's just a VERY stong De-greaser, has an Acid base. &nbsp; They actually had to tone the shit down about 2 years ago b/c the original stuff would give you blisters and eat at your fingernails if you didn't wash it off immediately. &nbsp;CRAZY stuff. &nbsp;Stil works great though. &nbsp;De-greaser always works better than those spray on engine cleaners they have at Wal-Mart

Camppain - If you use degreaser, wash it COLD. &nbsp;That stuff will dry off too fast if the engine is hot, and leave a white residue on the engine, and pretty much anything you washed. &nbsp;

DSC - There is no need to disconnect battery. &nbsp; My Friend detailed new cars for 2 years. &nbsp; He had to clean the engine bay of everyone of them. &nbsp; He just opened the hood, sprayed it all down with degreaser, let her sit for a few minutes, and used a pressure washer to get it off. &nbsp;then use tire dressing to make it all shine again.

mine is in my signature. too small so here's the big one:
http://www.eframes.com/sizedimage.asp?uid=420726955&amp;image=3448MVC-417L_Copy.JPG&amp;path=a%2Fanthony240sx%5Fcs%5Fcom&amp;max edge=260

I'm a detailer at a dealership. We use something called &quot;Slam&quot;, it's a degreaser. We only cover the distributer with some plastic, then we spray Slam all over the engine bay, and blast it with a pressure washer. Works good. I only rinsed mine off, but I covered my distributor and air filter. We also use Trim Shine to give the engine bay the shiny wet look.

For a super super close up: <a href="http://www.eframes.com/ef-cgi/a/anthony240sx_cs_com/3448MVC-417L_Copy.JPG

I</a> also had an Interstate battery.

i see that some of you guys dont have intake on there. well heres a little tip. drill a ton of holes i the bottem half o your air box. it sounds great costs nothing and takes about 10 mins. then remove the air pipe than comes out of the air box. just dont put any holes above you air filter. it realy sounds great and has no effect on your car i have been runnin like this for a few mounths now.

thats way too much work. &nbsp;Removing the plastic y-pipe will do the same thing... &nbsp;without all the plastic shavings.

Man, those CA18DET engine are off the hook. &nbsp; What I like is that most problem you get is a bent valve when your timing belt snaps but you can just go to the junk yard and pick up a head for cheap and replace it...
