Thought I'd share with you guys.

This is engine #4's journey. We took this motor completely apart and sent it to the machine shop, which turned out to be the BEST decision yet! The motor was pretty worn come to find out but like I said, it didn't matter since I was taking it to the machine shop REGARDLESS. After a closer look, the block was warped from overheating issues and it had been rebuilt once so it was bored .20 over already. The shop decked the block, honed the cylinders, polished the crank, I bought a new set of rod and main bearings, and new oversized ring set. I also bought a new OEM oil pump from Z1.

As far as the "bling" factor goes, out with the blacked out look and in with a little color! I smoothed out the plenum and had it powder coated blood red. The pics I have are shitty cell pics and do it no justice, trust me. So now on to the pics!!!

ANOTHER trailer ride.

$$$ is the reason for no TT swap. I'm on a shoe string budget as it is, lol. We did manage to get the motor set in the car but not hooked up. Busy weekend.

Update time! So we got the trans and TC all bolted up and the harness done. We keep finding more stuff we need to finish up, unfortunately. Found that I need all the bolts that go with the PS pump (mounting bracket and adjuster screw). Still working on getting a starter but have a few options on the table for it. There's a parts car I know of that may have what I need so we'll see. I found my hood prop tho!! LOL. I also got a new strip for the throttle cover from a member on 300zxclub.com, "joejoe3eb". He makes these and it looks great.

My friend took the cover and stripped it completely of paint and block sanded the NISSAN letters off. Repainted, cleared, and buffed it to a mirror finish. The pics do it no justice!! You can see the letters gone in this pic a little better.

NOW....how about some crap luck. My Z has been at our shop and because of room issues, has been outside. This is 99% of the time, no problem. We've kept cars outside the shop MANY MANY times before without any issues. Well, the Z fell into the 1% that has bad luck. Apparently a critter of some sort, we think a raccoon, got on top of the Z to escape from something trying to get it. Whatever was after it tried to get on the car for quite a while, and it had claws. The Z is scratched up ALL the way around from it attempting to get on the car.

This the best pick, it's like this on both sides, from bumper to bumper. >.<

Sick, worked on a few Twin Turbos last few days and I keep wanting one more and more. I love my S14 but the Z32 was always my favorite, just couldnt afford to get a decent one back when I got my S14.

Maybe in a year or 2 ill get ahold of a clean T-tops shell and swap in something interesting like a 1JZ.

Good luck on the build ! Hit me up if you need any parts I got a buncha stuff layin around.

More fire under my ass to get it repainted, just not black again. I'm thinking Viper red.

How bout an update just for the hell of it!

Most recently I relocated the power steering reservoir to under the nose panel. It really cleaned up the bay, next is the fuel filter and then fuse box.

what was the cost for the motor rebuild?

Close $1k. The machine shop was $450, new oil pump $200, gasket set $100, along with other things I can't put a price on off the top of my head. Not to mention oil and oil filter at 10 miles, 50, 250, 500, 1,500, 3,000 mile intervals. Expensive but done right this time!
