Well, I have a 97 240sx and the ABS light turned on and I'm not sure why.
The car stops fine so I'm not sure exactly what's going on.

I think it's a sensor or something but I don't know how or what to check..?

Has anyone had this issue?
What do you guys think?
What should I do?

Thanks in advance!!

brake fluid could just be low.. making the ABS not work how it should, but it works.. try check fluid levels.

happened on mine about 8 months ago. apparently the abs pump goin bad is a common problem on the 14s. That's what happened on mine. I still stopped fine, but i don't ever mash the brakes hard enough to need the assistance of abs.
I was getting ready to install the R33 brakes when the light came on so i just pulled the abs system out at the same time. I still need to pull the light out of the cluster tho...

Interesting.. Is replacing the pump a big job?
I need to look into the cost of the pump.
My fluid is fine... Might be the pump??

I have an S14 and I'm having the same problem, ABS light came on, no problem with the brakes. Any info on what you did to fix this would be great! Thanks!

Past few days my abs been turning on too, first day it happened i was on the highway and thought it was weird and exited the highway and while i was on the ramp, the person who was to the right of me told me my rear right wheel area had a lot of smoke coming out of it and I checked it out when I got home and everything seemed fine but the ABS light was still on but was off next morning.

2 days later(tonight) the abs light turned on again when I drove into my neighborhood so wtf?

I've also checked my brake fluid and it is fine. Has anyone figured it out?

I know this thread is old but its good search information.

Here's from the FSM:
-Start engine and drive at least 15km/h (9mp/h) for at least one minute
-Stop vehicle with engine running Make sure that the ABS warning lamp activates
-The LED on the ABS control unit flashes to indicate the malfunction code No. [ECU is located under left trunk trim]
-Verify the location of the malfunction with the malfunction code chart [below]. Then make necessary repairs following the diagnostic procedures
-After the malfunctions are repaired, erase the self-diagnostic results stored in the control unit
[B]Disconnect connectors for ABS control unit or the battery negative terminal for at least one minute
-Check for warning lamp deactivation after driving vehicle over 15 km/h (9mp/h) for at least one minute
-Test the ABS in a safe area to verify that it functions properly

Code Chart:
01-Front right sensor (open circuit)
02-Front left sensor (open circuit)
03-Rear sensor (open circuit)
05-Front right sensor (short circuit)
06-Front left sensor (short circuit)
07-Rear sensor (short circuit)
11-Actuator front right inlet solenoid valve (open circuit)
12-Actuator front left inlet solenoid valve (open circuit)
13-Actuator rear inlet solenoid valve (open circuit)
15-Actuator front right outlet solenoid valve (open circuit)
16-Actuator front left outlet solenoid valve (open circuit)
17-Actuator rear outlet solenoid valve (open circuit)
21-Actuator front right inlet solenoid valve (short circuit)
22-Actuator front left inlet solenoid valve (short circuit)
23-Actuator rear inlet solenoid valve (short circuit)
25-Actuator front right outlet solenoid valve (short circuit)
26-Actuator front left outlet solenoid valve (short circuit)
27-Actuator rear outlet solenoid valve (short circuit)
41-Solenoid valve relay circuit (unable to turn off)
42-Solenoid valve relay circuit (unable to turn on)
43-Actuator motor or motor relay (unable to turn on)
44-Actuator motor or motor relay (unable to turn off)
47-Power supply (high voltage)
48-Power supply (low voltage)
-45,46,47: LED deactivation or continuous activation-Control unit/Ground circuit
-Warning lamp does not come on when ignition switch is turned on-Fuse, warning lamp bulb or warning circuit/Control unit power supply circuit

The other five things on the list you'll need the FSM for the diagnostic procedures so they are not listed (ABS does not work, noise, long stopping distance, etc.).
