View Full Version : Aggrivated with getting my ride height even.

Put aero on my car and took measurments between the body and aero on all four corners and came up even. My driveway is slanted laterally and horizontally yet my aero seems to be sitting the same no matter how i park it. Edge of my skirt dragging hard on the ground on the drivers side rear with a 20mm ride height difference. Springs side by side measure up the same.
What could be going on here?
Logic says if the car is parked ass end first, the opposite should happen. Passenger side FRONT dragging with the drivers side rear sitting higher.
I was getting ready to start on my hood vent and some other body/glass work and figured i'd take a look at something before proceeding and ended up with this conniption.
Open to suggestions. Not sure if this belongs anywhere but general chat.... Not really a technical question. Just a dumbass trying to get sorted. Thanks guys.

just never measure on a slant. it'll frustrate you because it never works.
go to a gas station or something and check. it'll save you the headache. Measure from the top of the fender arch to the ground.

here's an idea. start with a flat surface???
and maybe your aero is off?

Yeppers. I'm going to drive it into the street, park and THEN take some measurments. No tags til next month so i can't drive it to the gas station.... My skirts are probably uneven but i'll check back in a sec.
Do you think it's a possibility the owner could have heated/drooped the springs and they came out uneven? 10 year old jic coils with mystery spring rates.... Fronts are most def that kei office green though. The front and skirt fronts sit pretty level.

A street should still be uneven as they have a roll to either side to allow water to drain off.

wait until you get the tags and then go get an alignment

So easy, just time consuming. Really if left and right are set the same, it should only be a matter of adjusting the front or rear height according to your kit since i recall your kit is kind of weird.
I use a ziptie like measuring tape, stick it to measure from the pillow ball/camber plate, down the spring to the first spring collar. Draw a mark on the ziptie. Then measure from the spring collar to the top of the first bracket collar. make a pen mark, then take it to the other side and make it match perfectly.. than put the car down and see how it sits... then do the rear in a similar way.
Make those adjustments, sit the car back down, let it set in for a little bit and then drive it on some level ground before coming to a conclusion.
Dont make the judgement on a street either, since they mostly have that oval shape to them and the car may lean.

Just measure the damper its self.

I'm tucking 17's, hitting my aero on road reflectors and pebbles, cannot fit a jack under my diff. It occured to me how our subframes are.
You know how the sublink sits offset? Well i maxed mine OUT so my subframe sits crooked. Not good. That's the issue. Things like this make me want to get rid of this thing for an onevia. You know, quit while i'm behind?
I'm going to facepalm for myself so you dont have to...

yeah our rear suspension design sucks, when you max that camber link out and til the subframe, i can imagine its twisting the front diff mount rubber. I really hate the rear suspension design. Thats why they didnt carry the suspension design over to the FD etc, unlike S13->S15,z32, R32-R34 all having similar design.

there really isn't any way to do it in an uneven driveway with sketchy 10 year old coilovers. just wait till you can go somewhere that you know is level. take measurements then adjust accordingly.
