Yea so basically my car is rusting to a pile of dust. Wanted to share my experience and document what I have now. Take in advice and possibly show documentation for repair if its even worth it.
Majority of you will say to junk the car however due extenuating circumstances I am stuck with this shell for a bit.
Currently am still in the process of getting it running again mechanically. But boy do I wonder what goes through peoples head when they try to fix things especially rust.
Well on to the pics.

SERIOUSLY! Silicone and spraypaint will not stop rust if its already there! Jeez.
Ok so thats the obvious stuff show I havnt ground anything down yet but most of this is on the drivers side but the rest of the shell is in excellent condition.
A) I am not a welder and dont know anyone at the moment
B) I know its really bad
C) Its gonna require a lot of work
D) 240's arent very common here (epecially in any good condition) to get a junk shell and use it for parts.
Ok so all opinions are welcome (except for the obvious ones.) Anyone with similar documented stories please share links to your page.

grind it down best you can in some spots, then por15/rust bullet it.

What he said. I got the POR-15 stuff, its a little pricey but from everyone I have talked to(10-15 people) it is the best stuff available. You can get it from www.por15.com (http://www.por15.com).
Also, you can cut it out and weld in new stuff...I know you said you cant weld but you can pick up a cheap mig welder and some scrap metal and teach yourself how. Thats how I learned and I just finished stitch welding my car and fixing the rust spot in my floorboard...or you can always sign up for a welding class. They are often night classes and will provide you with the right technique and sometimes offer discounts on welding supplies. And there is always the fact that you will be certified and can do side jobs for other people for extra cash. Good Luck

i had a similar problem but just not on my rails. they are spotless.
the spot where the brake line went through was bad, i cut and welded in a piece.
and my shock towers had some rust going on and i just welded them back together. bondo and painted the bay. problem solved.

looks about as bad as my car. if i have my car long enough to do what i want to it theres a guy somewhere on here that sells full rails i think. so ill get those and weld in new rails, and the rest of it i can just cut and weld in a new piece, or at least i should be able too. you could try harbor freight and see if you can find a welder and just practice until your comfortable with it.

Well my problem isnt about me learning how to weld the problem is I work at a gas station/repair shop and its illegal to hold any sort of machinery that can cause the place to blow up. I also live in a co-op so i dont have a driveway.
I will however be grinding it down pretty far and ill show more pics. And ill give that por-15 stuff a shot.
I am waiting on my friends driveway to become clear after he finishes his POS STI (which has been on the back burner for about a year now).

+1 for saving a shell. It might be cheaper just to pitch it and find a new shell but learning to weld and not giving up on something always benefitial in the end.
Also, I've used POR-15 on my rust bucket, would definetly stand behind it.

definitely save for a shell. imho i dont think its worth fixing.. you will always find another rust spot.

i dunno homie. i had nearly the exact same places for rust on my car.
grinded it all down, welded in new sheetmetal, and reinforced a few places with steel bar, and it made such a difference.
sealed it all up with the por-15 stuff and seam sealer.
ill get pics up tomorrow, its a night and day feeling with my car. plus it will probably last another 5 years now, IF im lucky lol.

Get POR-15. Its kind of expensive but even the small can goes a pretty long way.

Sorry to be so blunt, but stop bitching.
Mine is worse then that... Find a good welder and get it fixed.
A lot of 240s, S13 at least rust in that spot in the wheel well.
Like everyone said, the parts that are just on the surface sand down and do POR15... the parts that are all the way through cut and weld, then POR15 over it.

Wow, Xcessive's frame rails are excessively priced! that would cost you maybe $20 in material to make. wtf.

ummm...I wasnt bitching? Im just surprised at the extent of what the previous owner did to cover it up.
Trust me this is my 4th s13 in the last 7 years and I know where the rust spots are.
But once I grind this down I know itll be pretty bad. He covered it up with a bunch of shit and gunk which I overpassed before I bought it.
