Hey guys, just got my 240 2 days ago, and I'm starting on the interior. I started to trying to remove the carpet. What I'm wondering is do I have to remove the dash in order to get the carpet out of the car?

slide it out after removing the mid console.

Helps if you do. Plus it's not very hard to take out the dash if you just follow the online guides out there. Stick to one, and follow it step by step and you should have it out withing 30 minutes.

Alright thanks guys. Already have the ceats and center console out. Have to replace the dash anyway, so I guess I'll hold off and do it all at once.

you also have jack up your car and remove the nuts that hold down the carpet make sure to use a 31mm socket

no you don't need to pull the dash. it makes it a little easier if you do, but it's not necessary.

:smash: that's exactly why the tech section here is useless half the time.

agreed it makes it easier without the dash in there, but you can simply just cut the carpet up by the firewall so you can slide it out easier.

this is what i did when i pulled carpet out of a car in the junkyard, you cant even tell now thats its in my car.

I was trying to get out of there, it was like 100* and humid as hell. plus all the damn bugs flying around drove me crazy.

FYI dont hack up the carpet or any other interior piece, if you dont want them you could sell them or hang onto them. someone else may want or need them. My car didnt come with any interior really and i was glad that the car in the junk yard was so clean inside.

Thanks guys so much for your help! I think I'm gonna go ahead and pull the dash anyway because it already has two cracks above the gauge cluster. Anyone got a black dash for sale? Lol.

Do NOT throw out your old carpet. I did and installing the new unmolded carpet was harder than one would think.
