No its not safe, Boost is not the same with different turbo's, Bigger turbos flow more CFM (More Air) You should swap back to the stock turbo and wait gather all the other parts before you do the swap.

If yo accidentally boost too much you will blow the engine.

Well to be fair, it depends upon what you mean by "safe to drive".

If you are on a MAF sensor, the MAF WILL be able to safely detect the airflow into the engine and the injectors and ECU will behave like stock.


The issue is that you will max out the MAF or injectors very quickly.


Probably something like a few psi on that turbo at higher RPM and you will be flowing the same amount of air as a stock turbo at 15 psi.



Moral of the story....if you just need to limp the car to a shop to get it tuned, you could be okay, but you MUST KEEP THE CAR OUT OF BOOST (like 2 or 3 psi should be okay in the lower RPM as you are giving it a bit of gas)....


If you keep the car under vacuum and BABY it, you could limp it to a shop.


Anything more than that is extremely unsafe.

Stay off the boost, plain and simple. As long as it stays in vacuum, it should be okay.

7 psi on a T25 is not even close to 7 psi on a GT3582R. Its not the boost, but the volume of air being pushed thru thats the difference. At that boost level for both, 180 whp for the T25 and probably 280-300 on the GT3582R.

If he's converting over from stock, he probably has a MAF sensor, and what you mentioned will not work

to the op: why wont you just get a tuned ecu shipped to you while your installing your gt35r? makes it alot safer to drive and boost. not just that you can drive it to the shop just for a fine tune

btw, get bigger injectors and pump before you fuck up anything else. dont do half ass jobs. just my 2 cents

drive like sane person, granny shift it @ 2200rpm. you should be fine...

a friend of mine drove his KA-T with T3-T4 to a tune shop in long beach or murrieta.. forgot which one. and we live about an hr away from each shop.. drove fine there.

Yeah I'm actually going to save up for some 740cc, upgrade the fuel pump, metal head gasket and buy a power fc...
It's my daily so I needed it back on the road for work but my uncle is letting me borrow his car so that I may buy the necessary items and not rush it :)

Damn near impossible to tell the difference between sarcasm and stupidity on here. You'd be surprised the kind of shit I've read in here and they were being serious.

But in all honesty, keep the stock turbo setup until you get everything in. No point of slapping in a turbo that big and plan on driving it for a while until you get all the supporting mods. Wouldnt take much for you to accidentally boost it and have a nice rod knock on it. We thought you were asking if its safe to drive, just to drive it to your tuner instead of getting it towed to save some money.

Also, I got the same setup, I'd opt up for some 850s. You'd be pushing those 740s near their max with a turbo that big at high boost, high boost in the ball park of atleast 1.5-1.8 psi.

Yeah that's what I was originally asking because I was on a time limit and running out of $$$$ but now I have a another car for the mean time so that I may gather all the parts and do the swap safely and right.

I guess I might go 850cc to be safe. I thought 740cc would be safe if tuned, but getting 850s wouldn't hurt.

Also, I hope youre not gonna leave it at .8 bar. These turbo's doesnt liven up till after 1 bar. And, what do you have planned for the drivetrain? Clutch and transmission upgrade should be in your sights.

Well I'm just trying to make it driveable right now... I will start upgrading the tranny later on... I wanted to stay with t25 but there were welds on the mani and turbo flang and the bolts snapped in half so I couldn't put it back on Haha and I had this set up in a box in my room and said "what the heck" lol should of did more research but I'm getting closer to driving it safe :) while leaning more and more in the process...
