View Full Version : Recaro Seats Sitting WAY too high!!!

I just bought a pair of authentic recaro srd seats. I am using sliders and brackets from wedge engineering.
I installed them last night and they sit ridiculously high. My head hits to roof and sits higher than s14 seats.
Has anyone run into this issue before with wedge brackets? What brackets will work on recaro srd seats while lowering the position of the seats?

lowest rails i've experienced are bride or custom. my friends buddy club sits high. probably similar to wedge.

My Corbeau Forza does as well and I removed the slider. Im 6'4, so im definitely getting rid of it, I have to find something that sits low and is FIA. I was thinking the sparco evo.

I'm running NAMS rails with a Sparco Corsa and If I take the cushion out I can't even see my hood; I'm 6'-1" (S14 non-sunroof)... I actually mounted the rearward side mount brackets, that come with the rails, upside down and slid the seat between the rails some. I think the forward mount is on the lowest setting but with the bracket still upright; if that makes any sense. I also have a Sparco Toreno with a Wedge bracket, but no sliders, for the passenger. I think it sits as low as you could hope for with a bottom mount seat and without modifying the floor.

Aren't Wedge brackets or whatever notoriously high?
As well, Buddy Club super low down rails come with the L brackets, as well as the weird taller brackets.

^ If you use the slider on a bottom mount seat, and don't modify the floor, I think its just the nature of the beast. If you looked at mine just bolted to the floor, its resting on the hump so you couldn't physically lower it anymore without tilting the bracket excessively.
I am quite pleased with the height of my passenger seat but I don't have a slide adjustment so the back seat, which will leave the car one day, is decorative...

Yes Wedge is STUPID high, has always been
Use Bride MO
Bride MO bottom mount rail will be the lowest bolt in option on the market
According to Bride USA, the MO for the 240sx will bolt to Recaro pattern

When I had my S13 I had an OLD Bride Type SL bottom mount rail, but it wasn't the same pattern as Recaro, so I had to get the import adapters (#P21NPO)
http://og-made.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/p21npo_02.jpg
Then bolted the rails to the adapters

I have a Recaro SPG Pole Position. I use the Buddy Club SuperLow rails which put the seat almost .5'' to 1 inch lower than the OEM seat.
I would have gone with the Bride, however, I got the Buddy Club at a steal so I couldn't pass it up.

Fits awesome. I am 6"4 and fit just fine with a helmet and have never had any cage contact while at drift events.
Anyways, Bride or Buddy Club rails and you'll be just fine.

Logan is right, Wedge brackets sit the highest out of all the companies out there. Get Bride rails and be you'll be set!

all bottom mount seats will sit high if you run a slider.
i have a sparco sprint with wedge engineering mount and sparco sliders. i'm 5' 3" and there is a lot of head clearance (with moon roof).
try getting FG (side mount) seats..

there's not much you can do to make the SRD low. its not a "low max" seat or even a side mount at that. your seat mounts from the bottom which will always be higher than a side mount which obviously mounts from the side which makes the seat sit lower to the ground. ditch the SRD, horrible seats for a S chassis.

so the bride MO sliders WILL bolt onto the stock Evo 8 Recaros and onto the stock mounting points on a 240?

I know I'm kind of bringing this back from the dead..but I have a question for those that have flipped the rear "L" bracket on the NAMS rails upside down to get a lower seating position..
I have a Corbeau FX1 Pro seat w/ NAMS rails. Currently I have the "L" brackets are upright and the back is at the lowest, the front at the middle and since this seat has the option for side or bottom mounting, the bottom mounting holes are almost touching the ground (they extend from the actual bottom of the seat).
My question is did anybody else run into this problem? I'm guessing I'm just going to have to cut them off..?

I flipped my back brackets and used what would be the middle mounting point on them and I got it to work. I can fit my hand between my head and the ceiling without the cushions in with the Nasiga Rails and Corbeau FX1 Pro seat. Only problem is the right side rail slider hit the bolt holding the rail to the seat, so I had to use a different bolt that was thinner..took me about 4hrs to get it to where I liked it but it looks awesome and feels awesome!

all bottom mount seats sit high in a S-chassis. that's why they have side mounts that sit lower.
