we saw a strange looking car pull up to a stop light (we were in the parking lot) couldnt tell what it was, body looked very similiar to a s15 but i didnt think it was, then a car pulled up behind it and i could see the s15 tail lights clearly because the cars headlights was shining on it. i don't think it was a s14 with a conversion or any car with a conversion at that, because the lines looked ALOT like a s15.

i believe by "legalized", he means that they have it here for race/track purposes, the legal way. not legal for street driving.

Here is what I have been told, the S15 is legal for street use. They did not need to go to the extent of crash testing a car etc. or adding anything to the body to make it stronger like motorex did with skylines. Because the s15 will not be sold to the genral public, it will be used for their use only. Also, you can have a foreign car if it is owned by a business. The steps that they had to go through in order to drive it legally on the streets I dont know. But from what I know it is a legal car. Search yahoo or google for all the legal information on legalizing foreign cars.

Hmm.

1) There are no street legal S15 Silvia's. PERIOD. Importing a car "for race/show use" does NOT make it street legal. Crash testing with DOT/emissions testing with EPA and making a plethora of mods to the car physically and asethetically make it legal.

2) There is some guy in SoCal who bought an S15. Posted about it here I believe. He wouldn't be the first. If you want one, Japan Auto in NorCal is selling oen for about 20k.

3) Aaron: You sucks. :( (I love S15!)

4) RHD is NOT illegal. Cars that arent DOT/EPA tested are (and most happen to be RHD)

What is this, NICO? Stop spouting mis-information.

Thanks

I am just telling you what I was told, Ricky Chu from superstreet mag. is the person that told me that nitrous express has a street legal S15. I thought of that as a someone credible source. I asked him if the car was used for Track/Race use only and he told me that it is legal for street use and it is driven daily.

kazuo said it is not illegal. You said that it is illegal, then you said that it is.

Well I am pretty sure RHD is not illegal. I have seen some old school Rolls Royces RHD and they were legal

My friend told me the same news of a s15 going to the races in southern california. Supposedly, the car was for sale for $20k as well. There's also a RHD Evo that showed up with the s15. I don't have any pictures, I'll tell him to snap some this week if it shows up again.

Los Angeles parking enforcement Saturn Wagons are RHD too... :D

Interesting story behind those, btw. Supposedly, they were made for the Japanese market, but when Saturn failed in Japan, they sold the cars that were already made to municipalities (after converting them to US-spec). This is why all "meter-maid" Saturns are RHD in LA... In other cities, the RHD Subary Legacy/Jeep Cherokee postal cars have been replaced by these Saturns (although they probably suck due to lack of AWD). Where's that "The more you know" NBC star pic :P...

umm here is the(or one of) NX's S15s as of Dec 2002 at an autosound show my friend drug me along to. Did it look like this:

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid71/paf1ca466bb55ad590557d44cb1015d7f/fb894d1f.jpg

As you can see its right hand drive. I hope no one drives it on the street, shifting with the left hand would be hard enough without a ****ty momo knob.

well, when i first saw the car i thought the body resembled a s15, then when another car came up behind it and the head lights of that car lit up the back of the car i CLEARLY saw s15 tail lights. so that leads me to believe i did in fact see a s15, but im not sure.. plus isn't a grand am a sedan, im pretty sure i didn't see a sedan...

oh well.. i don't really care... i didn't make the post anyways..

and im pretty sure i did not mistake a grand am for a s15...

That S15's interior looks pretty nasty to me. The shiftknob looks the worse.
