My a/c problem help

Hi i have 92 240sx and ac is cold. The light on a/c switch won't turn on:( so i took it to pepboys but they said they can't fix it since it's r-12 so I was wondering if you guys know any other places where i can fix r-12 for good price. I live in bakersfield, california btw. I did some research but I couldn't find any. Just reply on this post if you happen to know. THANKS

you must get your system switched over to r-134a shops(at least in canada) aren't allowed to top up with r-12 anymore

Wait...are you saying that the AC does work and blow cold, but the little light on the AC button just doesn't turn on anymore? If so, you probably just burnt out the little light in the button. You DON'T need to convert to R134A just for that. R12 is a better refrigerant anyway. Don't convert unless you absolutely have to.
