Some of the Nissan's are obviously influenced by Renault's design and depending on your stance thats either a good thing (Versa) or a bad thing (Sentra). Honestly those cars don't really do much for us enthusiasts anyway so who cares.

Well Renault released photos of their new concept the DeZir. This thing is gorgeous. It's a very MR looking shape, but it actually sits on the Leaf platform and is powered by the same plugin powerplant.

If the next Z or GTR (or SX ;) )got some influence from this thing I wouldn't mind a bit. PARTICULARLY the profile of the vehicle. That is what wet dreams are made of for me.

There's quite a bit of the new Juke in the shape of the front grill/fogs. So obviously they've been planning on going this direction for some time if it's already to a production vehicle. This just confirms the fact that some of these styling cues will and ARE making over to the Nissan line-up.

Overall I think it looks good, but I don't see why they have to add that stupid strip of chrome behind the R8's.

It's a mini Renault R8.

The R8's (audi) have a strip of carbon fiber, not chrome.
It's also optional iirc.

I like the rear of this renault, it's a innovative approach that works.
the profile does nothing for me however, & the derivative chrome strip is tacky.
also get the impression they're borrowing a bit from the Mazda concept cars.

I don't think you'd ever see a car go to production with a rear end like that.

I would also question how functional it would be for the aerodynamics.

I like the conceptual direction they are taking with this. It reminds me of the Infiniti Essence . Which pretty much tells me NIssan and Renault are on the same page here. Lets hope more this stuff transfers into real world cars.

R8 sides and Stingray Concept rear = Won't see production and shouldn't have been seen outside of the draft table, right before it was erased to start on something new.

I know, I know, these are just "styling cues", but the visibility on that car would SUCK, and it's not very aesthetically pleasing, in my honest opinion.

I'm looking forward to see how Renault applies this to more pedestrian cars.

I personally just like the profile. The LED headlights are an intriguing idea as well.

BTW, this car will never see the light of day as a production car. Nothing even close. It's just an exercise to display the new design language.

Lets face it, cars are derivative because of aerodynamics. We're in an age where mpg is equally as important as hp, so cars have to be very slippery and certain shapes lend themselves better to more fuel efficient cars. It's not a coincidence that the Insight looks exactly like a Prius.
