How hard is it to find a Convertible 240, s-13 style?

VERY VERY easy
now finding one for a decent price, that's hard. most say they are 'limited edition' but it was all of the '94 run and mixed in the other years

id love a convertible project..sr, manually tranny, full roll cage....ooooh so nice :)
no silvia face, onevia 4eva

why wouldnt you want a silvia front end?

because one vias are SICK
kouki bumper one vias..hotness.

silvia face..meh. for US guys..misaligned (direction) headlights, harder to find body panels after drifting 'accidents' and just dont appeal to me

one via is sweetness. popup headlights rock.

well I am currently in Okinawa Japan, so getting parts are not a problem at all

then ur convertibles should already be silvia face

downsides: chassis flex (a lot)
and um..are they all auto down there? in the USA they are all automatics.

mm typeical problems w/ convertible top over time..and just stuff like that

i think all suspension is same,, probably different spring rates but not 100% sure. not common to modify stateside.

As best as I know (and I may be wrong) they didnt make the silvia as a convetible, but I am looking into what I can do when I return to the states, I was just looking at what all I can do or set up when I get back

ooh i saw a few in japanese magazines
only s13 and s15 convertibles. most were pretty weak stock
like no DET but nto sure. i dont know enough to really say, someone else can

dont get one. if u want to do any hard serious driving, get a normal hardtop type. convertible is just more work.

I know that it is going to be Difficult and maybe a little expensive but I am also looking at setting up a silvia with an SR20DET and then a 180 with (the hard part) RB26DETT, looks like it will be fun but I will have to see.

S13 Silvia convertibles had the CA18DET and auto.
S15 Silvia convertibles (Varietta) had the SR20DE and manual or auto.

It's definitely more work to play with one... it's one of those things you should only look into if you REALLY want to be different.

Well the silvia I have now has a CA18DE in it and I just put a manual in it and a new exhaust (which sounds mean as heck) I feel that if I am going to set somthing up in the states, I do plan on being orriginal so that is my whole point behind the Skyline motor

What's wrong with being automatic? My fastback is auto, and given one ride in it I dare anyone to complain about how it shifts. Of course the tranny's been gutted and built completely new buy a race shop, but that's besides the point. LOL:D

I have a japanese friend here in LA. She is planning on staying here in the states to live here forever. She told me that she wants a convertible because it would be nice to have one in LA. We've been looking around for a while, so yesterday we picked up a nice and clean 240sx convertible with 99,000 miles for $4000. The motor runs so smoothe compared to mine and it has a nice stereo which is good because she's all into music. The problem with the convertible is that those doors are insanely heavy and with the top up, the roof rattles but that's basically it. And one more thing, most people selling nice convertibles are trying to get $5000 and $6000.

I agree. A convertable with SR and maual tranny swap. GREAT for those spirited drives around town with the top down and your favorite CD playing. :D

I think over in japan, convertible S13 numbers are far less than over in the states. Australia got some and the U.S. Im also thinking of picking up a 'vert since in my area thats all i seem to find. Theres one w/130k miles for 2.5k. Theres a 94 for 6.5k:eek: Dont plan to auto-X or drift wit it, jus cruiser and occasional drag runs.

downsides as you know, weaker chassis, only auto, and heavier, round 200 to 250lbs heavier.

Right now im trying to figure out how to stiffen the chassis without resorting to a cage. any help? I was thinkin of welding an X-cross member on major stress points. Trying to find a structure diagram from a Z32 to see if anything could be improved.

Dont worry I dont plan to keep the same motor or tranny in it. But I do plan on getting a roll cage put in it because I think it looks sweet with the vert. Also I can lighten the load a bit by istalling JDM doors. they are lighter than the american ones
