Im in the market for a new project car. i just sold my accord and ive been lurking this site for a while now mostly for wheels. the cars that i am looking at is a 240sx and a mk3 supra and maybe a mazda miata I love the supras tho because my dad had one a while ago but the 240sx is more tunable.
I want a honest opinion. Is the 240sx really worth it with out swaping the motor. i want to build a motor but swapping is always a PITA imo. with accords, everyone would swap to h22 but dont realize the potential in the f23's
I just want an honest opinion from 240 guys. alot of other guys bash 240's but i am open to everything

Honestly, it's up to you. If you want to work on a 240, by all means go ahead.
But you asked a question to an audience that is dominantly Nissan.

Id say the S-chassis is awesome in every aspect of the word because no matter how many parts there is out there you can always make it your own & whatever way you like it. Im planning on selling one of my project cars PM me if your interested but im all the way across the other side of the US tho down in Cali lol.

Buy a Miata. It will cost you way less in the long run. Plus you can have people give you weird looks for driving a gay-mobile. I think its worth it though. Those things are the most fun to drive car i have ever driven.

I've owned a few different cars, and it is hard to beat a 240sx all around. Go for it!

I hate my car >:/ Na jk
MK3 supra. Good power. the sound of an inline-6 turbo. Looks nicer then many 240's. Uhm yeah i own 2 mk3's. They are not easy on the wallet and they will take all your $. If you have a good job and have tons of extra cash and a daily car then yes get a mk3. If not then miata or 240

ive always been a fan of the 240sx but all the honda guys say getting a 240sx is a cop out. dont ask me why. I just want a nice decent project car that i can build over time. definitely boosted with out a doubt
now are there anythings i should be concerned about. i had an accord and the Jseries trannies were shit after a while, i had a camry and the water pump blew many times.... and every swap that i did on an accord, they never ran the way i wanted it to. this is the thing that will make or break my decision

well if your swaps are not running right then you should probably stay away from swapping the ka engine and just stick with it and boost it. For that matter stay away from doing any swap to any car. 240sx is a fun car to own and like others said there is so much market for it out there so you shouldnt have a problem fixing it up the way you want it. which s chassis are you thinking about getting?

I just don't understand the Honda crowd. Their cars are made by a lawn mower company, yet they think they are above everyone else :duh:
You will find that the 240 crowd is more open minded to all makes of cars. I used to own a BMW M3 right before my 240, and a Ford before that... so come join us - you will be amazed & wonder why you ever wasted time on lawn mower cars.

Its not that it didnt run right, it was more or less, one motor ran to rich, drinking gas like no tomorrow, another one, the power output was FAR LESS than what i thought it to be (could have just boosted instead). and other civic motors, im just disappointed in them all around

careful... im still a honda gear head.... but i def understand tho. i am open to many cars. I love drifting but i honestly dont plan on getting into it just yet so i was also thinking since all my choices are RWD

If you're truly a die-hard Honda guy stick with Honda. I've had friends who switched over. They loved the fact that it was easier and cheaper to make decent power with a 240, but their heart just wasn't in it. They missed that screaming VTEC, FWD nature of Hondas and eventually went back. We're all car guys, we just like to get from point a to point b with something different.

Just buy a 240sx. It is cheap anyways, if you don't like it, leave. It is not a big deal. If you like it, keep it and mess with it.

Go 240sx. Boost the KA. I have had bad experiences with Hondas even as DD's. I love my Nissan >:]

The 240 can be an extremely fun car no matter what route you go with: KA-T, SR, RB, V8, or whatever you can think of. SR swap is one of the easiest engine swaps I've ever done. I'm not saying any idiot can do it, but there's plenty of information out there for it. If you've turned wrenches before and do your research, you'll be just fine.
