i went to drive home last night at 1am. car cranked fine but wouldn't start. fuel pump doesn't seem to turn on, no spark, and no ecu. radio works, lights work, alarm works. i think it might be a fuse/relay but couldn't find it last night.

any input would be much appreciated

I would check your ignition power lead along with the engine bay fuses. Your fuses should be fine but I had a similar problem back when I was doing my swap and it turned out to be an ignition power lead that wasn't connected/ grounded out. That's where I would start.

thanks guys!

ok so, i got a ride back to my car, messed with the fuses/relays by the battery, and heard everything click on, started my car, drove home, and went to sleep...

go to go to work this morning and... nothing :bash:

so i mess with fuses, doing everything i did yesterday and i couldn't get it to work. then i removed the EGI, EGI PUMP, and H/L RET CONT (i'm gonna have to search on those) relays(?) and the IGN SW fuse and forgot about them for a few minuets. finally put them back in and as soon as i put the fuse back i hear everything come on. start the car go to work and write this...

It's starting to sound like a ground some where. I'd start tracing wires.. I'd also start to check out any new additions to the car that are near or affect any wires anywhere.

this is really getting anoying :wtc: my car worked fine for a few days and this afternoon it did it again. so i've been searching through the wiring since this afternoon and i havn't found anything yet. the only new additions to the car are my alarm which was installed professionally a month or two ago and my stereo that i installed before that. both of those work perfectly still.

N1ceDrgn: what did you mean by ignition power "lead"? could you be more specific?

thnx

Was there anything that had not been doing/ or were doing for the few days it was running ok? If so, that could be some info that can lead to figuring it out. As far as an ignition power lead, it's a connection that always has constant power, generally a black lead with a red stripe, (I think that's the coloration). I would think about what I was or was not doing when it is was running ok versus when it was causing problems. Either something is finally grounding out, there is water sitting some where grounding things out, or something is not hooked up correctly.

How clean are you guys engines?

I find that most problems have to do with oil residue in the wrong places. Ever since I cleaned the crap out of my engine..I mean 17 cans of gunk in various places...and controlled pressure, controlled nozzel on the hose, then unplugged everything and plugged it back in, let it sit in the sun all day with the hood off. No more problems..

I used "LPS" contact cleaner on all the plug ins and made sure all grounds were clean and solid.

Take a day off to do this. A clean engine is a happy engine!

Now...If I could only find the cruise control fuse. Mine don't have one inside the cabin...(sigh)

just a little conector under my dash that has a bad connection and looks a little burnt. the central computer was just sliding around under my dash. they didn't even secure it to anything!!
