OK, I guess it's almost that time again. Last year was a great turnout for the 2009 car show and this year, I want it to be bigger and better.
I want to set up at a track this time with either a grip or drift event or ,if there is enough interest, both.

so my questions are
1. what would you guys prefer? drift or grip
2. how far would you be willing to travel? maybe WSIR
3. Would you guys that wont be driving in an event be willing to pay a small fee? maybe $15-20

possible dates are mid august or Oct 9.

Let me know what you guys think and if the intrest is there I will start the official thread.

Too close to the convention.
the convention has been pushed back till at least next year. that's why I decided to go ahead with this.

I would suggest doing the same thing as last year. Most track guys dont do shows and we all know hard parkers dont track their cars, and I dont think the type of crowd that was there last year will make the trip to WSIR. I say continue the event as is .

You have a good point. I guess then what I need to know is, does everybody want to do it at the same place? or, maybe speed zone or go kart world?

Speed zone or cart world is a good idea...cheap way to race for people who dont track their babies..n something to do other than just roam around the parking lot the whole time.

Don't bother with hosting a track event yourself. You know I'm always down for a track event. But, if there's no track event, I won't be trailering the car around just for a show.

You should strongly consider getting a list of people down for a grip event already being hosted by an auto sports group like SpeedVentures or USASpeedTrials. They may even discount us for showing up as a group. You know I'm down.

A grip event at WSIR with s-chassis show would be awesome.

SpeedVentures is having an event July 31st - Aug 1st. I know one or two members are participating. Not sure how many are down to meet there for a show. Many went for a HellaFlush event when a Drift/Grip event was hosted by TeamDriftChampionship. Going to cost about $170/day. Full track. Details here: Speed Ventures - Track Event Detailed Information (http://speedventures.com/events/eventdetail.aspx?id=287)

Or, SpeedTrialsUSA is having an event at WSIR SOW on Aug 28-29. It's going to cost about $130/day. Full course. No full detail yet: SpeedTrialUSA (http://www.speedtrialusa.com/index1.html)

WSIR is closer to Long Beach by 20 miles. Maybe if we gathered enough people (including people who don't necessarily have a S-Chassis) they can discount each of us.

Here is a much better location. Fontana, Ca with SpeedVentures on Aug 14-15. They are hosting BOTH an AutoX event ($80) and a Road Race event ($190). Info: Speed Ventures - Track Event Detailed Information (http://speedventures.com/events/eventdetail.aspx?id=288)

Thanks Joel, but it looks like I'll be doing the same as last year. No track event, just the car show.

And lets not give the "best work in progress" award or "most beat up" (whatever he got I don't remember) to the biggest thief in the community this time guys. You all know who I am talking about, those of you that were there...a little mini gold turbo was the award.

We wont even go there in this thread.

Besides, I learned a lot doing it last year, and this year will be much more organized.

Yes this is an S-Chassis show. He can bring it out but he will have to park in a seperate area.
