Has anyone made an App?

I'm thinking about making an App for aWingThing.Com. I did a little searching and found some info here and there, but I wanted to get some first hand advice from people on here. What are the best programs to use? I want to make one for Android and Apple ideally.

Building on iphone i wont know how to start , but for android.

all the programs to build it are free. Also you will need to know or learn JAVA.

You can get microsoft's SDK for windows mobile 7 as well for free.

Hey! I was wanting to just mess around with developing apps too!

Where is a good place to start reading about how to use Java? I might take a class later but I would like to start reading up on it and maybe tooling around.

I'm buying a Droid X when it comes out so I will have a Droid to use as the test phone, woot.

What are you hoping to do with this app? Mirror the site or provide some functionality over the the site?
