i went with my honda friend to some place that sells engines and he bought a b20b engine for really cheap $800. when i was looking around the warehouse i found 3 sr20dets. 2 redtops and one blacktop. the black top has ecu and harness for $1200. one of the redtops was 800, no harness or ecu. the other sr had no manifold or turbo. i did not get a price on that one though but maybe that would be around 400. my orginal plans were to go with a KAT. but now this is looking pretty good. i was thinking of getting the sr without the manifold and turbo and just throw an aftermarket one on there. i was really set on KAT till i heard the prices for these motors. seems like a good deal. what do you guys think i should do??

harness and ECU might be hard to get w/ the current demand
if the no turbo/mani one has ecu/harness i'd get that. its easy to get stock turbine and mani.
black top w/ everything i think is the BEST of those 3. i'd go for it if u have the money!
crap you can sell it for much more if you dont want it!

$525 for the one with no turbo/manifold. i just called.
i know a couple places that sells the harness. but not an ecu. but i think i can find one. what about the tranny. do i need to use the one for an sr or will the ka tranny work?
sorry for the n00b questions im searching right now!

I am thinking, get it all at once would be to your benefit and save some headaches. I would only get those if I already had the complete setup and needed an extra engine as a just in case redundancy measure.

When I first got my car all I wanted was SR. I found a lot of good prices from places but didn't really know about there reputation, and if I could find the missing parts (ignitor chips, harness, right ECU etc) I basically came to he conclusion that you should find yourself a clip. I clip that has it all. And buy from a reputalble place, it makes a BIG difference, trust me. You wil save money in the long run. and probably get a lot healthier motor that you will enjoy. If you're good with soldering and reading wiring diagrams, the KA harness can be used with an SR with some modifications. Assuming you have S13, not sure what the s14 KA harness is like.
It actually makes for a clean install because everything's the right length for LHD. The ignition wiring is the main thing that needs to be modified. If you have a cut harness its easy to splice that part in.
