Anyone know any good in car video cameras? I want to start recording my daily commute to and from work. A lot of hilarious things go on that i'd like to capture on video. If people would chime in with cameras that they've used personally that would be appreciated, looking for 720p quality.

Hmm not bad, anyone use this camera personally? Looks good, wish it had an hdmi connection though.

I have a GoPro Hero Wide. I dont have the motorsport mounts but I use it for mountain biking. You can view some of my videos at Mathew Mendoza on Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/stinky180/) . The highly recommend getting the HD hero.

You can't go wrong with a CountourHD or GoPro HD. I know a few people that use them.

A simple point and shoot digital camera that can record video mounted on a camera mount would work as well.

I've used cheap cameras like the Jazz HDV178 and affordable point and shoots like a Canon SD780 to shoot footage in 720p and I haven't had any problems.

I dunno if those would be ideal for something you are recording daily. I think it would be a lot of footage to sort through. Would get tedious after a while and then you would only turn in on when something funny is happening. Then you start missing stuff cause you didn't turn in on in time. A fleet recorder that you can flag times you think are funny would be more ideal.

I mean, its not like there is something epic going on every time I go to work, but it is a good 15 miles one way to work. But I want to capture anything from accidents, douche-bag drivers, exotic cars on the road, and anything else you can imagine when you're in your car and you say to yourself "wish I had a camera right about now" and you realize your cell phone video camera quality isn't worth the trouble.

Anyone have any insight on this camera? I like the fact that it has remote switch I can mount somewhere that will start/stop recording. Although its the same price as the GoPro and no 1080p even though I'd probably never use it.

I just got a Hero HD. You really do end up with a lot of footage to sort through. It helps when you know what you're looking for in the footage though.

I like the wide-angle too. I put it on the dashboard of my FJ cruiser and I can see the A-pillars in the shot. Really gives a lot of opportunity for getting what you want into your shot.
