congratulations, your now in my build thread. only thing that happens here is
SRS BZNZ
so get the fuck ready. i cut and pasted this shit from my actuall build thread over on NWN, because im ban hammered hard till october, and i like whoreing on the internet. (origional thread: http://www.northwestnissans.com/board/showthread.php?t=108493)
this is a exhaustive documentation of my cars progression thought its life with me, for better or worse, and the modifications and basic alterations it receives.
the very thing that we look to ascertain when joining forums is information. plus we go to build threads for pics and inspiration and, what? morr information.
(START)
History
the first car i ever really dumped money into and "built" was a 2000 Honda civic hatch.
here she is once i had finished with it (or i guess, ran out of money!)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/frontview.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/tailshot.jpg
i was really pleased with it, i felt like i had really built something great. i did so much work, countless twilight hours of sanding for paint, even more hours of painstakingly frustrating wiring. but it all led up to something great.
i had a build thread, on a site called clubek.net. you will notice i say "had" because the site disseminated, along with my well built and documented thread. i was so disappointing, it was my first build thread, and was really gaining interest by the community.
but soon things went down hill.
the issue was in the wiring. it had crazy electrical problems. i dont know where i went wrong, but it coundnt have gone worse. 2 distributors fried. a ecu take a crap on me on the freeway. my windshield wipers start engaging with my brights. blinkers trigger wiper fluid to jettison. stereo stops working.
you remember the record 100 degree days? well, my windows decided to stop working as well. and i didnt have AC. indescribably torture driving on thoes days.
so i got to work.
i fixed the brights issue.
i fixed the windshield fluid issue.
i fixed the stereo.
i got a new ECU, but had InTec fix that wiring issue.
but i couldn't get the windows to work.
nor could i get the blinkers to work.
running around in a bright yellow loud EK with no blinkers is not good. cops loved me, i helped pay their bills and fill that quota on about 4-5 occasions.
(side note-- none of which are on my record, thanks to Phil Su Att. at law, if you have traffic issues, LMK ill get you his number, he rocks.)
this all was going on while trying to sell it, i was hoping to have it fixed before a sale was made. so i got back to work.
i got 1 window to work, the drivers.
but i coulndt get the blinkers.
i was beginning to really lose faith in my car, like it was not something i loved anymore, but something that i wanted gone from my life. even after all we had been through, all the trials and tribulations, i wanted it gone.
2OOO EK Phoenix Yellow b16b |clean title| JDM'ed Out, come check it out, $hitz CLEAN! - Honda-Tech (http://hondamarketplace.com/showthread.php?t=2581378)
so i lowered the price form 9.5k
all my friends told me to keep it, but there were too many issues with it.
they just didnt understand.
at one point i found a buyer, we were to trade, his 92 s13 fastback, which was really clean and had alot of mods, for my car. it was a fair trade.
i drove to Oregon, not in my car, i took my dads, checked his out drove it, and dug it. he told me we could meet 1/2 way and trade. so this time i took my car, this was befor i got th windows working, and it was like 102 degrees. i was driving on the freeway holding the doors open lol. he knew full well the issues, i made sure to talk about them explicitly, because i didnt want him to be surprised.
he backed out.
i was pissed.
1 hour of torturous driving for jack shit.:spank:
i fixed the windows that day.
it was about 2 weeks later, i was losing hope.
then i was on craigslist and found the car i currently own.
a 1995 red kouki s14.
he said he was looking to trade for a EK!!!!!
i was ecstatic.
now imagine how i felt when i saw a reply to my craigslist ad in my inbox.
"interested in trading?" and the link went to that exact car!
we traded like 4 days later, i was so nervous, i thought i was gona puke when i handed him my keys! but now, im totally satisfied and enjoy looking back on it, but not living in it. i learned so much, its immeasurable.
now for the next chapter; moving from history, to...
Present
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1004.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0996.jpg
i love the car. the feel of it, the way the interior flows, how it handles, looks, sits. it felt like a Ferrari compared to my civic. but my civic was faster and flashier, but i didnt car, it felt like a HUGE upgrade.
but it wasnt all good news... things were about to go straight to hell...
(morr shit)
one day, i was on my way to the dentist, i took a hard right, and the road dipped.
then, my car shut off, the rpms fluttered and i quickly tuned the car off, and coasted to a stop.
because ive already jabbered for most of this thread, the short story is that my suspension compresses enough to let me tires shred the harness that Nissan oh so smartly placed above the tires.
so, after having it towed home and having to ride with some crazy hunchback dude, i got it into the garage and got to work;
alright, so its in the garage, and the first step is to figure out what is causing it not to start (remember, i had no idea what happened, i thought it might be something oil related so i was scared!)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1130-1.jpg
this is about how i was feeling at this point, funny... i put that on right before i went to the dentist (car must not have liked it.)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1131.jpg
no hood prop? no problem.
grab a dowel and get going. baller eh?
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1132.jpg
first you gotta figure out where the issue is; fuel, or electricity.
so i busted out the timing light. (the timing like for thoes who dont know will flash every time a cylinder fires, so you can make sure is working properly, really nice tool.) had my friend crank it over.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1137.jpg
no flash. ok, well, now i know its not fuel! we know the issue is spark.
at that second i had an Epiphany.
i remember reading about how people relocate the harness into the fender when they lower their car... (this goes back to what i said in the beginning, we joined fourms for information!)
so i jumped on my knees (no homo) and peered up under the fender, and here is what i saw:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1138.jpg
BINGO!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1140.jpg
time to take the fender off, i wish i would have know how big of a PITA it is.
this is what happens when you dont prep your shit for paint, previous owner obviously didnt care about his car, he just bolted it down and sprayed like a 3 year old getting potty trained, youll see what i mean further on.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1141.jpg
after just moving the fender around and letting some of the debris fall out, a pile began to grow, if you take out your fender liners, yopud better make sure you clean it out or it will rust! i clean mine out 2-3 times a week and this is what happens even then!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1143.jpg
removing the wrapping around the wire, you can see this harness is really thick!
there is a lot to work with.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1144-1.jpg
here is where i think the issue is;
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1148.jpg
time to solder.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1149.jpg
this was my first time ever soldering. ever. so needless to say, its not the most beautiful thing, and im not even gona act like i knew what i was doing. i asked my dad, he told me "figure it out." its actually really easy.
just get some flux, rub it all over it. take the soldering iron and heat up the wires till they are pipping hot, then you should be able to touch the solder to it, and it will cook and ooze's into the wires and harden, melding the wires permanently. like mini welding.
heres how it turned out for me.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1152.jpg
and the other wire that was sheared.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1154.jpg
after wards i showed my dad, all proud and such, he look at it and asked "why did i waste so much of his solder?"
now looking back, it does make sense that you only need a little spot of it to connect the wires. doh. o well, the more the better i said.
it was about 8:30, and was geting cold. the temp was 39 degrees, so time to crank up the heat!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1155.jpg
then i got to work getting the fender off. well, got to work trying to get it off, but after about 30 mins of frustration and not being able to figure out where the bolts i was missing were, i gave up. heres where i left off.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1161.jpg
but i wasnt about to give up.
the next day i got back to work at about 12 in the afternoon, it was a nice day.
i posted up a thread asking for noob help on zilvia, and got what i was looking for.
i had to remove the side markers to get to 3 more bolts near the front.
and about 5 mins later all bolts were off and the fender was ready for removal.
but
i found some other things i had a feeling i would, but was hoping i wouldnt.
overspray up the ass! god did this guy even know what prep work was? almost as bad as macco :(
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1162.jpg
but thats not what i was really worried about...
see what i see?
front end damage. bummer. :(
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1164.jpg
looks nasty. how nice of the previous owner to NOT tell me about any of this. what happened to honesty? this is why the front bumper sits odd in the front, it sags because they welded the headlight brackets on a damaged front, so even if its all bolted properly, there is that gap. looks like something ill have to fix in the future, but not now, its too much work lol.
all bad news aside, back to work.
more mess form no fender lines.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1166.jpg
no more mess!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1167.jpg
after cleaning and stripping, and cleaning some more, were getting somewhere, some where dirty.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1168.jpg
back to the uglyness, maybe i can at least clean up the headlights;
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1171.jpg
after
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1172.jpg
at least the visible over spray is gone, so you wont be able to tell, very much.
now to the main issue, time to tuck that harness and get the car running again.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1169.jpg
all wraped up nice and tight.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1176.jpg
gotta make sure its protected from the elements.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1178.jpg
next i drilled holes and installed these tight ziptip securing straps, the plug in and ziptie it up!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1179.jpg
all tight and snug, and looking good, almost dont want to cover it up! :P
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1180.jpg
while i was at it, i cleaned up the wires the last owner just left hanging and dangling behind the bumper. this guy, left me with a lot of work. but, at least i know shes in good hands now. (IMO...)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1182.jpg
all finished and tied and ready for the fender to go on.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1183.jpg
when trying to put the side marker on and fender; i dropped it, and this damn plastic tab broke. but i fixed it with jdm zip ties and some plastic epoxy.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1187.jpg
fender is on and clearance is excellent.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1189.jpg
FWD 240sx. all right.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1191.jpg
the harness goes up, and i dont have to worry about this happening ever again.

if you recall, i told you that when i took that hard right, my car died, and at the time the first thing i thought was "am i outta gas?" no i had gas... but i had a friend bring me some just in case, and that wasnt it.
but then i began to get afraid that maybe, i had slushed all the oil to the side of the oil pan away from the pump, so i didnt suck up oil and bam, motor seized. so i was pooping in my britches needless to say. i was trying to convince myself that it wasnt that, i wasnt cornering for long enough, etc. but it still scared me enough that once i got it running, i drove to the auto parts store and bought some oil, and i knew it was low.
so i did an oil change.
when i bought the car, i MENT to do a oil change, because who knows how long he was driving on it like that, what kind it was, etc. i mean, after some of the stuff we have seen, its obvious he didnt really care. bad thing to do, you should ALWAYS change the oil as soon as you get the car. meh bad.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1131-1.jpg
jacked up, ready to slide under her and mess around with my tool
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1133.jpg
position my nifty oil catcher/ store'r (you sould properly dispose of your oil at a facility... remember mother nature!)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1137-1.jpg
in case you get your oil changed at grease monkey or jiffy lube, this is what it looks like when you DIY! aaaaand out of focus, hard when your cramped under the car.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1141-1.jpg
*so little oil came out, i ran toooooo long with out a change, thats not good. must have a leak somewhere.
why put cardbord down? to slide on easy and to make sure THIS doesnt end up on the garage floor, daddy doesnt like that.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1142.jpg
kinda pointless, but the bolt was all nasty, so i cleaned it up. inside and out. or i guess its head to thread.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1143-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1147.jpg
like new.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1149-1.jpg
dont forget to put the bolt back in lol, thats always a mess and a bummer. now to get the oil filter off. good thing ive got just the tool!!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1153.jpg
buuuut of course, because the fool before me used a Fram filter :yuck: it doesnt fit. well, its just a filter, you only need to tighten it a little, so im sure the dude before me only tightened it alittle. WRONG!
he must have had a breaker bar 4 feet long and a 340 pound dude jumping on the end of it, the thing was on there like a weld. now, my body is, how should i put it... Aerodynamic. 125lbs, 5'11'' so im not the strongest person in the state. i literally had to go all out on this damn filter, i did it in short massive burts of energy. it took about 4 times before it began to move a little, and i was sweating. i FINALLY got it off.
listen up ladies, the oil filter shouldnt be torqued like a lugnut. you turn it till tight, then 1/4 a turn more. THATS IT!
ok, so the gay Fram garbage filter is off. i would have bought OEM, but they didnt have any. K&N is a little better. way better then Fram.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1158.jpg
also, if you dont know, make sure you rub some oil on the ring gasket of the new oil filter, helps it seal.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1159.jpg
idk if you can see, but there was a lot of dirt and stuf around the oil cap, should clean that up to be sure it seats right when you screw it back on.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1156.jpg
tadaa!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1157.jpg
now, with the filter secured, and the oil drain plug on, lets fill it with juice
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1165.jpg
and final step? you guessed it. cap on.
now question; notice the 2 black half circle things below the valve cover, what are they and why does it look like they are leaking?
also see my beautiful over spray dust? good stuff.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1166-1.jpg
now that thats done, i figured while i had the car in the air, i might as well see what else i could do. at this point in time, i SHOULD have been working on a research paper due the next morning, but it was only 6 pages, so it could wait....
lotta jabba for changing oil huh? entertaining non the less for me, i dont give 2 shits if it entertains your lazy ass. if you dont change your own oil, do. thoes places like jiffy lube and grease monkey etc. use sub par oil. here, check this out, its really worth reading, srsly.
thread on oil's (http://www.northwestnissans.com/board/showthread.php?t=106479)
anyway, i figured if i cleaned up the wiring on one side, i should do the other, and this time ill document it.
i didnt for get something in my introduction post; i like haveing a build thread for my forsale thread. that way people can see every thing i went through, no secrets, no BS. while the previous owner liked to keep things secret, i dont. your sins will find you.
so, here is what the previous owner did:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1172-1.jpg
yeikes lol. there is a lot going on. random plugs, a good explanation of why i dont have windshield wiper fluid, and needlessly long wires. as you can see, my windshield wiper fluid reservoir hose is not plugged in, but suspended above with all the other wires.
this is what it looks like from the front, which is why it reall bugs me. and you can see if when i turn, since there is no fender liners.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1170.jpg
nice little hole in my reservoir tank lol.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1171-1.jpg
so here is my reservoir tank, where is my hose lol. just a hole. did this guy for some reason NOT need to use his windshield wipers? after i got it, i noticed it wouldnt give me fluid, so i rainx'd the windshield, i dont even need wipers. but lets fix it.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1175.jpg
unfortunately there is a small chunk out of my hose cap. as you can see.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1178-1.jpg
and what are these? a plug and 2 clipped wires... prolly something to do with it being the Zenki harness? idk, enlighten me.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1180-1.jpg
its not hard to fix that hose cap; silicone seal. stuff works wonders on all parts. it works just as good as a gasket sealer. plus, if you dont want it looking ugly, its clear; so if your redoing your headlights, this is the stuff you want, but it will do for this as well.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1181.jpg
here is the stock gasket rubber thingy. put some sealant on the inside to make it seal against the plastic nicely.
i like this picture for a few reasons, one, im flipping you off. two, it looks like, a beam of light form heave is shinny down. idk, just a cool pic.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1182-1.jpg
just a LIGHT bead on this piece, dont want to clog the opening. and a little goes a long way with this stuff.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1183-1.jpg
plug it in, strap it down, and let it sit. takes about 5 hours to fully cure. but i let it sit for about an hour while i started working on my paper.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1184.jpg
came back out, heated up the gerage, and got to work on the wiring issue. busted out the soldering iron again, and started heating it up. while that was heating, i cut the wires shorter, stripped them, twisted them together, and added the flux.
you can see the solder seeps in between the wires, kinda beaded on the end. but w/e it will work better then just twisting and taping. waaaay better.
3rd time soldering eva! getting faster, but not better lol.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1188.jpg
did about 3 other wires, but couldnt get pics, they were up higher. after i did that, i tucked them all nice and neatly away, and sealed them from the elements.
no more uglyness!!!
except the hole and the bent rusty bracket lol.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1189-1.jpg
jsut doing little things like this, however minuscule, is fun. and beneficial. like saving change, every little change adds up to make a big difference.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1191-1.jpg
ziptied and secured away from the rims, and no more dangling. plus you wont notice it when i have the wheels on and turn, bonus.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1193.jpg
and thats all i did yesterday. but i get paid tomorrow, and ive got a few goodies in the mail. the next updates are going to be some intense and more along the lines of a real build, because they include aftermarket parts lol.

i did a little shopping today, and got all excited. so i wanted to post up what i bought.
i started this thread: Places to buy suede in WA (http://www.northwestnissans.com/board/showthread.php?t=108496)
one member told me about a fabric store close by, in rose hill. it was so beautiful out today, i decided to go check it out, i was headed out that way anyhow. when i got there, to my oh so happy surprise, they were having a sale, and it ends sunday! good thing i went, because they well selling stuff like crazy! almost looked like a liquidation sale. there were so many people, i had to wait 30 minutes to have some grumpy old lady cut me some fabric. i found some awesome black "plush" suede, its thick and a little stretchy, so i can pull it over the headliner easier, and form it. 50% off!!
i bought 3 yards because it was such a good deal lol.
so here it is, and im excited to get started, but i need to do some reading and research before i attempt it, so i get it right the first time.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1203.jpg
i also forgot i had a secret stash of goodies that i bought months back, FR sport was having a good sale on SPL parts, so i took the opportunity and dropped the dollars on it. 10% off and free shipping, too good to pass up.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1207.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1208.jpg
all kidding aside, its time for a real update. with some real serious business! im finally getting back into a sleep cycle after 3 days of 3 hours of sleep per night (finals make me want to kill myself) i knew Thursday night, when i finished my last final at 10:05, that tomorrow, Friday, i was gona crank out some awesome work on my car. no fucking around with tucking of harness or BS like that. so as soon as my head hit the pillow, i set my alarm for 10am, and was excited to get to work on my car FINALLY, after all this finals bullshit.
but it wasnt to be so.
what actually woke me up was not my alarm, but my cellphone. i looked at the caller id.
FML... it was work calling.
long story short, i was called into work 11-7. i was so sad, like seriously sad. i wanted to dedicate this day to my car entirely. but of course, some thing HAD to come up, god like to fuck with me like that.
plus, while i was in the shower, we lost power, along with 1/2 of woodinville, which made traffic a nightmare. so i was tired, pissed, sad, and grumpy.
"at least your making money" i had to keep telling myself.
so after work was over, i sprinted home, changed, backed my car into the garage, and at long last, got to do work.
(first set of wheels)
got them off of Zilvia, 1300 dollars shipped! brand new rubbers and rims only used for 200 miles.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0047.jpg
here are the specs:
17x10 +18 245/45
18x10.5 +15 265/40
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0031-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0043-1.jpg
they are dope! ive been wanting to do a 17/18 staggered, just for fun. so i was really excited to slap these bad boys on.
now, when i did this, the fronts fit great, not a ton of sunk, not a ton of poke, plus im able to have the 245's in the front, which is bigger then lost of starched tire'd 240's have in the rear!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0036-1.jpg
however
when i lowered the car with the rears on, they didnt want to tuck the 265. since i only have a janky roll, no pull, the rear fender wanted to kinda sit on the tire lol. so i had to adjust the camber a little so i could lower the car.
i ended up raising the rear up, about 1/2 of an inch for the mean time, untill i can work out how im gona put the rims under with out too much camber, and maintain driveability/ performance.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0044-1.jpg
they are deceivingly massive. but it looks silly right now: 18'' rims + 265 with 40 sidewalls + raising the car in the rear = dorky looking 240!
i decided i was going to do something that i hadnt really seen yet. i wanted to kinda be different, different in the sense that my pockets will allow that is, so i made an executive choice, and ordered something online. it should be here on Tuesday (2-23). really pumped for that! like really really really pumped!
ok, so thats exciting, but now its time to install my rear multi-link suspension i exhausted my hard earned money on!
so i got the tools i knew i would need:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0051-1.jpg
ratchet
breaker bar
2x wrenches in 17/19mm
2x deep sockets in 17/19mm
2x sockets in 17/19mm
and 1 extension
you dont need the deep/regular sockets, you only need one or the other, but it helps having both in case you need it; ill explain why you might was to chose the short socket v. the deep and vise verse.
so here is where you start, all stock multi-link.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0046.jpg
short related story: when i was working under my civic once, i had 2 jacks holding it up. well somehow, one slipped, and the car shifted loudly and dropped 2 inches or so. i found my nose touching the bottom of my headers. that was the last time i ever only used 2 jacks, coincidentally, thats the last time ive pissed my pants as well. i always use 3 jacks now. always. its just to catch it if one of the 2 others fail.
any way, i started with the RUCA, which is where you should as well.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0053-3.jpg
put your breaker bar on the outside, and wedge the wrench on the inside. make sure you go the right way, or youll just tighten the crap out of it, and make things harder on your self. i always look at the bolt, and imagine if i was turning it freely; counter clockwise to loosen, clockwise to tighten.
mine were really really hard to get off, but i just made a ton of noise and scared it lose!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0055-1.jpg
tada! remember which end goes in, kinda hard to mess up because id be surprised if you could get it in the other way lol.
like always, a quick trip to the wire wheel will clean things up real fast and nice.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0056-1.jpg
now get your wrench on the inside and the breaker bar on the outside, like last time.
now, make sure your stuff is COMPLETELY on the bolt, not like just the first 1/2, make sure its all the way on, complete contact. otherwise youll ---- your bolts head up, and youll be stuck.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0057-2.jpg
this one i opted for the short socket, here is my rational and a little lesson in leverage.
you can pretty much lift anything with the right amount of leverage, you just need a long enough handle. if you use the breaker bar, and then put a 4'' extension on the end, creating a L shape, you are shifting the load point. if you dont compensate by moving the breaker bar inward, your gona ---- shit up. check this quick MS paint for what im talking about. and youll see a pic of what happens if you dont compensate.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/loadpointexample.jpg
so, lesson over, back on to the progression.
during my attempt to break that bolt lose, i messed it all up! not the head, but the threads.
so someone help me out here. this bolt looks like its used to measure something, im guessing the camber? idk, but its got the hatch marks, a hole, and the bolts offset of th center on the attached washer.
the washer on the other side has a part that sticks out that matches a grove in the bolts threads, like it was suppose to immobilize it.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0059-1.jpg
but during my loosening it must have got off the grove and onto the treads, so when i was pounding on it with a hammer and punch, trying to get it out, i messed up the threads.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0060-1.jpg
so someone explain what this does, why its shaped like that, etc. im ordering new ones, because im sure its important beyond what i know ATM.
ok, onto the install!
i laid the old part out, nasty.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0062-2.jpg
and the new, yummmmmy.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0065.jpg
and then i measured, hole to hole, to get it near the same as it was, with a little more negative camber to fit the rims.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0063-1.jpg
then just slap it back in, and torque. that bolt in the back is strange, i really need to figure it out!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0067-1.jpg
done.
now i decided to tackle the traction rods. they looked easy, and on the passenger side, they are super accessible.
wedge the wrench, and break the bolt lose. i always use the ratchet to finish it off because its faster, you only need the leverage to break it loose, hence the name breaker bar.
reason i said to have 2 of each socket is that way you dont have to take it off the breaker bar, and put it on the ratchet and vise verse.
also, some of the bolts or nuts are 17mm, and some are 19, i forget which ones in-particular. so if it feels lose with the 19mm, try the 17 before you destroy your bolt.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0068-2.jpg
got it undone, now head to the other bolt.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0069-1.jpg
same deal here as well.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0072-1.jpg
that one is another special bolt, this one i had no issue getting it off.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0073-1.jpg
old v. the new, measure and adjust. these things are so beefy and sexy! i opted for the black because i think its cleaner looking, and will stay cleaner looking too!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0076-1.jpg
now just bolt it back in, super easy, and super quick.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0079-1.jpg
this was the point where i had to stop because i promised a friend i would be @ his party (he turned 21.) so i washed up, and took my dads car to his party. the whole time i just wanted to go back and work on my car lol. but it was chill.
tomorrow i would get it done before i worked. i got home at 4 that morning.

so my parents took the nikon, and left me with the shitty worthless point and shoot myspace garbage camera, so the picture quality is just down the drain.
last part, the rear toe arms.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0173.jpg
this is where i realized a mistake you can now avoid.
watch and learn.
latch the breaker bar on and wedge the wrench, something doesnt look right...
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0174.jpg
aww ----. thats whats wrong.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0175.jpg
i should have, while the RUCA was off, removed that bolt. so now i had to do more work to get it out. not a real big deal, just annoying.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0176.jpg
everything was going really smooth, both today and yesterday. this last bolt however was the hardest to access of them all because the break line is right in the way. here is where you but out the extension.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0177.jpg
remember the really well dawn MS paint example, here is where it come into play; i didnt compensate for the extra extension, and i destroyed the nut, thankfully it was the nut and not the bolt. but this is what happens when you extend your breaker bars! you want to keep the nut/bolt as close to the breaker bar as possible to reduce transfer of the load.
but it cant always go smooth.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0184.jpg
luckily, im so resourceful and smart, that when i was building my EK, i would find people parting cars, and offer 20 bucks for them to pull off as many bolts and nuts and whatever as they could. so i accumulated a collection that has come in handy 100's of times. if you dont have one, seriously recommend you invest.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0185.jpg
just was a matter of finding a suspension nut. which took only a few seconds. uhh oh, honda parts on a Nissan! blasphemy! ;P
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0186.jpg
grab the SPL toe arm and measure it up and adjust accordingly.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0180.jpg
now just slap it on there, button it up, check all the other bolts and torque them down! and your all done.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0181.jpg
it looks awesome! there is one thing i didnt like seeing and didnt look awesome;
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0188.jpg
a leaking coil.
when i first noticed it, it was because the passengers side rear coilover was always making a squeaking noise when it was compressing. like a mattress spring.
so when i saw that i was like, "wonder if the previous owner new?"
so i found his user name on here (yeah hes a club guest, but will remain nameless, but im sure you could find him if you tried.)
looked though his old threads he made and the posts he did, i guess he bought these used from 360 or unnatural, and then was bitching that they had sold him a defective product.
just one more thing left out of the transaction. i love surprises.
so after i got the other side complete, in 1/2 the time, i moved to the next phase; clean up and storage.
as you can imagine, those parts get kinda dirty, seeing that they are under the car and all. so since my objective is to modify this car with mods that can be transfer to another s14, im keeping everything i remove so i can swap it out when the time of sale is near.
so i started cleaning them. luckly i have my handy wire wheel and polishing wheel. so it was a breeze and made a huge difference!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0189.jpg
and with 5 mins of work, it looks brand new.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0192.jpg
i repeated it for all the components, restoring them back to practically brand new, hot out of the factory.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0193.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0191.jpg
and one more comparason side by side.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0195.jpg
this was well worth my time, not at all a waste of it in my opinion. plus if i was planning to sell, which would you pay more for, the dirty one, or clean and looking never used? (its rhetorical)
all clean and ready to go into storage.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0198.jpg
i took the same boxes my new parts came in, re wrapped them in the plastic and bubble wrap, and repackaged them nice and neatly into their respective places. then put it on the parts self, and there they will stay.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSCN0199.jpg
i got in my car and went to work at 5 after finishing all this, what a difference. i feel like im gliding when i turn, its so strange. my aliment must be absolutely crappy and outta whack, but it still is a huge improvement, i am very pleased with it. but i need an alignment!
tomorrow (or i guess today) im going to tackle my stereo wiring, it keeps shorting out. hopefully its not janky like the rest of the wiring. yeah, like that will happen! tune in tomorrow night, late, and i should have an update. i work 5pm-2am, so i can only work on it up untill then, and only update this after work. but its all good; i dont mind making money for my baby!
when i work up i decided it was a good day to start fixing the speaker wiring. i dont recall if i posted this, but my speakers in the rear and on the drivers side were cutting out every now and then, like they were coming unplugged then plugged back in. so i decided i would see if i could find the issue, if i couldn't, i would just have re wired them completely. but anyways, here is how i started.
started by removing the speaker cover, i think its called something else, but ill call it a speaker cover becuase i dont know what else to call it.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0050-1.jpg
it looks fairly OEM, hassent been messed with other then the ghetto ziptied speakers lol. i actualy didnt want to fix it because it held it in place really well, and if i used a screw it would transfer more vibrations, so this is actually just fine in my book. and you can see the really dusty OEM maroon, a really nice color, i wish the last owner had left it maroon! its got lots of flake.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0054-1.jpg
i started off by checking out the wiring the was going to the speakers to see if i saw any issues. right off the bat i already saw the problem, which was awesome because it will take no work at all to fix! the wires were taped together with some kind of duct tape. really poor job lol.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0053-1-1.jpg
so easy fix, just took off the tape, and when i did i had to scrape and clean the wires because the sticky part of the tape had gotten all over them (you know that sticky residue duct tape leaves?) this is one of the causes of the issue i am sure.
i decided not to solder these ones, because it was cramped and my iron was going out, so it take for ever to heat. so i just exposed about 1/2 inch of wire, twisted them really tight to insure they wont move, then used the right size shrink wrap to finish. this is fine for suff like this, you dont ALWAYS have to solder things.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0058-1.jpg
didnt have a lighter, so had to bust out the torch! low flame so i don't burn the wire or wrap, just waved it across until it shrank to the right size.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0059-1-1.jpg
when you use shrink wrap, its sized by the gauge wire it will be once its shrunk, it should fit tight like a pair of girls jeans.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0062-1-1.jpg
when i was doing the other side, i heard a wierd noise, the i saw movement above me head:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0063-1-1.jpg
this random ass cat just chilling on my car lol. i dont own a cat, but i did find this guy like 2 days ago, but let him lose because i didnt want to deal with him. oh, if your missing a cat, he hangs around in my front yard and lives under my porch.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0064-1.jpg
crazy cat.
ok, here is the other side, all buttoned up.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0069-1-1.jpg
i then tested the speakers, becaue when i turned it up loud enough it was shorting, it wasnt doing it any more in the rears, font was still tho... it think it was because that resedue was not allowing enoguh electrical flow, so now its free to flow. so im happy with that.
i decided i was gona clean this before i put the cover back on, why not ya know?
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0072-1-1.jpg
looks nice.
now i was going to move to the front driver speaker. the door pannels on these cars are SO easy to take off. my EK's pannels were such a pain in the ass. they were so flimsy, the first time i took it off, i broke the hardplastic behind it, so there was a dent in my door pannel, so gay. but these are built nice. and the interor on my EK was so boring and looked like they spent 5 mins designing it, i love my s14s interior. love it.
any how i got the door pannel off and noticed that the trim for the handel was broken, looks like the previous owner tightened it too much.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0073-1-1.jpg
no problem, since its a plastic, i just used some plastic cement to chemically bond it back together. so i put a tinny bead and then cotton swabbed it on the back side for added strength and put it in the vice. its still there right now, ill get it in the morning.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0096-1-1.jpg
while i had the door panel off, i decided to see WTF theses were all about and what i could do about getting rid of them. (on a side note, i just noticed Firefox doesn't think WTF is spelled wrong lol, its a word according to their dictionary!)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0078-1-1.jpg
after i got them off, i saw what i was facing, unfortunately they will have to stay on, but i actually had an idea. i had some left over SEM spray dye i used on my EK's interior to black it out, since they dont have black, just dark gray. (except of course japan got black interior.)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0087-1-1.jpg
so i hit it with a layer of the satian black spray dye. should look much much better. set it up and let it rip.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0100-1.jpg
while it was drying i took 2 pic of the door with the panel off, was so happy to see the plastic still there, as well as all the wires NOT messed with, yippy!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0088-1-1.jpg
gotta love OEM!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0090-1.jpg
i then started looking at my speaker cover. and remembered seeing a can of 3M super 77 in my cabinet, so i decided to wrap it in my suede.
so i got out a folding table, set up a station, and started.
just remove the 4 screws holding the speaker trim on, and clean it really good, i used a shop vac and a lint roller, worked well.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0101-1.jpg
sized up the fabric. left about 2'' on all sides to allow wrapping of the edges.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0104-1.jpg
i then remembered when i got this can of 3M, it was back about 1 year ago, maybe 2, i used it to wrap my EK's door inserts. turned out ok, not very good. i put too much on and it soaked through in some areas. so this time i decided not to do that lol.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0103-1.jpg
just as i was setting up, mask on and everything (my mom said if i didnt she was gona take my fabric away lol. what a mamas boi i know ;) )
the FedEx truck came trucking up my driveway, my package was here!!!!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0107-1.jpg
this is the thing i was saying was going to change my car big time. i noticed i forgot to snap a pic of them, so ill just tell you what they are and post up a pic with my next update.
they are ZG fender flares.
ill tell you more about thoes in a second.
so after i got them i went back to my wrapping job. i hit it with a nice coat of the super 77, and waited about 2 mins to allow it to get tacky. here is where the problems started. first of all, i think there is a "best if used by" date on there, and i was past it, because the glue came out like it was already dry, like a ton of white misty shit.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0109-1.jpg
i decided to see if it would still work, so i laid down the fabric, but after 10 mins of not getting it to stick, i decided to give and go a different rout. while the defeat was bitter, it also was sweet because i was told the way i was doing it wouldnt last. so now i get a second chance to make it legit.
my speaker cover was finally dry, i think it turned out good, one side was a little heavy with the dye, so i spotted, barely. plus its the side that faces down, so its NBD!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0110-1.jpg
i had been in contact with Ray form Autohero for a while, because i had told him i wanted to see if he would install my ZG's that were coming in the mail, so he told me to come on down when i had them and we would check them out and test fit and quote.
so i decided that while i was down there i should swing by an upholstry place and ask for help/ advise.
i found a place called magruders upholstery, i called and told them i wanted to swing by, even though it was closing time, Josh stuck around and waited for me, that was big in my book. really nice dude.
told me to use contact cement and a cheap spray guy. gave me a few pointers as well. i then asked him to quote a few things for me:
the door inserts, and the sun visors (they will need to be sewn by hand, want them to look good and match my headliner.)
250 for everything! that was way less then i thought it would be. so im going to drop my stuff by on Monday of next week.
then i headed over to Ray's. when i was over there, Wishicoulddrift's GC8 was there, along with him as well. and another dude there. i met both of them, but have now since forgotten their names, SORRY! (im so bad with names, so bad.) they were really nice dudes, pleasure to met and talk with. Ray is the most l-e-g-i-t shop owner ive ever met, really nice, really chill, and knows more then the internet holds. was really great meeting him. looking forward to having him install my flares in 3 weeks. so it wont be done for GG, but thats ight.
on my way back, i saw a broken down old 280z, white with black front, pulled over too see if you wanted help, but you said you had a buddy coming. you were stuck right in the middle of HWY 9, sucks. but if your on here... "hey"
then i got a call, was a friend with an extra pair of tickets to the showbox! so i ended the night my moshing it out @ a crash kings and Jet concert. anyone else go?
the encore was beast!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/jetconcert.jpg
well, now i have to work in 5.5 hours, so im out for tonight. will update later this week with my second attempt at wrapping the speaker cover, and finishing the speakers, and probably something else, idk what yet but there is always something.
Drifting-pedobear

so, yesterday i did a little bit, but not much, as i was busy with work and then chilled with some buddies.
i realized i hadnet gotten a photo of my awesome ZG fender flares. so here they are, the blue tape is on there from when me and Ray from garage autohero were test fitting and getting an idea of how we (by we i mean him) were going to install them. after some fiddling, we worked things out, and i will be back in 2-3 weeks to get them installed!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0112-1.jpg
2 fronts and 2 rears. i got them all for 250 shipped. and im pleased with them.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0116-1.jpg
the build of theses is great, really sturdy, yet very flexable to allow for adjustment and tweaking: which is needed seeing that they were meant for a 280z.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0117-1.jpg
put the newly painted speaker cover on the drivers side, looks way better, now there isnt that sharp contrast between the silver and the black on the door.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0121-1.jpg
that was all i did that day lol.
but i have forgotten to point out my sirius radio, channel 38 and 21 represent! i installed that like 5 weeks ago, just didnt take pics or anything, but here it chills. and yea, i have plenty of leg room, i dont even come close to bumping it, i made sure it was close and didnt interfere with my feet/ legs.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0125-1.jpg
the antenna is discrete and magnetic, so now harmful residue left behind.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0156-1.jpg
now tonight, after i got off work, i began to dial in my suspension, and by dialing it in i mean, tweaking it and eyeballing. i wanted to go lower, front and rear, so i started off in the front because it is the easiest to adjust.
all i did was undo the alan bolts one by one, and relocate them to the closer holes to allow more then 2 degrees of camber. because im running a 245 on a 10'' rims, i dont have any real stretch, so i needed around 3* of camber to fit them nicely. i can hardly turn now, it rubs profusely; but thats cool, it looks so much better.
started with this much camber (about 2 degrees)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0134-1.jpg
ended like this, with about 3 degrees.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0140-1.jpg
what happens when you lower your car, ---- with the camber, and put big wheels on it?
crazy toe out! my tires are done for, i need an alignment. (yes, steering wheel is stright)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0141-1.jpg
while adjusting the camber, i realized my front wheels were on the wrong sides, this was probably why my car was pulling me all around so much, well, that and all the other out of wack suspension parts.
when lowering the car, i used this nifty measuring device, to make sure both sides were level and the same.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0142-1.jpg
both sides match up, and my font coil is leaking now as well as my rear, excellent.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0144-1.jpg
after i lowered the front, it was time for the rear, so i lowered it without adjusting my camber or anything, looked nice, but with 265's, there isnt hardly any stretch, so i needed some camber to help me go lower. this is hella gehy flush!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0146-1.jpg
tomorrow, well today now, im going to do my second attempt at wrapping my speaker cover, this time im doing it the way the pros do. picked up this contact cement, which im scared shitless of, it bonds instantly and chemically upon contact, so there is no undo with this stuff, hope i dont fuck up!!! i borrowed my friends paint gun because i dont own one.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0149-1.jpg
put the other door pannel back on, and painted the other speaker cover plate, and reinstalled it. the color matches the doors and all the other interior perfect. love this stuff, i did my EK's entire interior in it, was expensive at 12$ a can, but its worth it.

tomorrow the main thing on the agenda is to get my car out of my driveway, its going to take alot of work, hopefully i can do it lol, after all that work tweaking the suspension and such. ill update tomorrow too see if i failed or not with my wrapping and if i can get out of my driveway.
265's in yo face! with a little sexy camber.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0164-1.jpg
ok, today was a crazy busy day: my sister was having her (14th?) birthday party, which i was told i had to partake in somewhat, which was cool because it was at "SkyHigh" the trampoline gym.
but here is what went down.
my main mission today was to get out of my drive way after last nights lowering. i already scrapped everytime, so now i figured i would just nose dive into the pavement. i grabbed my shovle, pick axe, and rake, and got to work. after 10 mins of axeing my driveway, i was already dead. its alot of work breaking up packed dirt and gravle.
after i thought i might have a good enough exit ramp built, i got my car, and began the decent.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0113-2.jpg
had to creep really slow, ever few inches i would get out and check to make sure im clearing. i really didnt have much room to work!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0115-1.jpg
the problem is my street has a hump shape to it, like most, so that water runs off into the ditches. you see what im talking about here:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0117.jpg
now i was ready to try and go all the way, i was so close, i was only scraping on the loose gravel that spilled onto the street! damn drive way.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0119.jpg
will it make it!?
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0120-1.jpg
yeah, i did.
now i was ready to just snap snap away at some pics with my new rims/ stance. i was really really pleased with the way it came out, all thoes hours spent trying to get my camber just right, and my toe perfect, paid off in the end IMO. check it out. PICTURE TIME:
stance looks great! i think i dig it.

tucking 265's, not bad. stupid wide for a KA though lol.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0128-1.jpg
another personal favorite
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0131-1.jpg
i like this one because it shows the 17/18 stagger. looks dope!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0133-1.jpg
my favorite shot of the rear, my neighbors were laughing at me when i was trying to get out of my drive way, they are old, they dont know: go low, or... go home. (no rhymes!)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0137-1.jpg
here is what i ended up with in the rear, untill i get the flares, im not going any lower and i couldnt get any flusher if i wanted. this pic makes it look alittle sunk, its not, you can see at GG!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0140.jpg
fronts are real flush too, but my retarded toe out proves to be trouble... (wheels are straight in this pic!)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0141.jpg
angry eyes. the s14 is always pissed.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0143.jpg
ok last whoring pic, i promise, back to business.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0146.jpg
ok, so now the test came to see if i could get BACK UP my drive way... this proved more difficult.
the approach is prepared, now to attempt the climb.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0148.jpg
DOH! pushen' pebbles.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0152-1.jpg
so i backed it up, fixed that spot and tried again. no snowplow this time!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0153-2.jpg
and back up my shitty drive way i go, only 3 hours after i came down it. but it was worth it, not i KNOW i can get to GG.
so on my way to SkyHigh, i was rubbing so bad in the front from my damn toe out, my tires were cathing fire on the HWY. so i had to flip a bitch and head home with smoke pouring out my front fenders lol, like i was drifting the whole time, in the front........
the massacre of tires:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0158.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0160.jpg
nice little canyon i made, only on the driver side... im not fat!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0161.jpg
so i tossed on my spare work Emo CR Kai's (its NBD or anything, i just happen to have CR Kais lying around... but... whatever.) and headed out to the tramp gym again.
so as i said a few posts ago, it was time to reattempt my wrapping of the speaker cover. this time im doing it the way the way josh (upholstery dude) told me too.
you fold your fabric in half, so the part you want to show is touching each other, and the back or bottom is exposed.
so i got it said out, set up my work station and started.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0163.jpg
i put down a piece of cardboard to fold the fabric over onto.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0167.jpg
now that its folded and ready for the cement, i slapped on my mask and started the air compressor. i also used reducer with the cement because it was really thick, and wouldnt come out of the gun properly.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0168-1.jpg
i didnt document the rest because i was working very tediously and quickly and multitasking, it was too much already.
so i did one side, then let it sit for 5-10 mins, then it was tacky, so i slowly messaged it down and it bonded like a mother. it bonds chemically as soon as it touches, hence the name, so when using this stuff i was really careful and scared!
once i got both sides done, i then moved to wrapping the fabric around and making it nice and tight, the finishing touch.
i just used the glue with out reducer, and a paint brush and applied to both surfaces, then folded it over and bam, cemented.
then the speaker holes. they were easy. just a exacto knife, and some more cement. besides, they are covered by the speaker trim, so it doesnt have too look perfect, but i wanted to be sure it was not going to peal up or get lose any day ever!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0114-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0113-1-1.jpg
the glue got ALL over my fingers, i had to used parts clearner to get it off, was nasty.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0119-1.jpg
when i had the glue too thick, it sprayed these spider webs all over my garage, my dad was super happy.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0120-1-1.jpg
not too bad for my first time ever. all the minor flaws are covered up so im happy! next= headliner.... :scared:

the only "maintenance" was about me changing my oil. the rest is all some form of modification.

mmmm, i see. thank you for the advise.
You glued the bottom of a washer motor to the gasket. How does that work?
its cracked, i needed it to be held into place, the rubber grommet is just a gasket, and so is silicone seal. it doesnt have a motor and there is a hole in it... so to keep it out of the way, thats what i did, instead of tossing it or zip tieing it. works excellent.
The same point as running all that negative camber in the rear of that Civic.

small update.
so i got my door panels back, they are so dope! it was that ugly 95 gray cloth shit, the same stuff thats on my seats. but now, im riding clean and mean with the suede. and this is the 2nd piece. soon, my interior will be suede'd out, and ill be pullin in the bitches.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0118-1-1-1.jpg
so after work i went to the bank to deposit my hard earned money so i could put it towards the 1300 dollars in damage i caused the other day. (yes, car accident) (and yes, my car was involved) (AND yes, it was my fault.) (AND NO, im not posting pics, yet. its too depressing lol.)
then when i got home, i began the prep work for warping my headliner and pillars.
to remove the headliner, you have to take off the obvious parts first: visors, dome light, rear view mirror. it all comes out easliy, just held in by screws for the most part.
then take out the A pillars, they just snap off.
to take out the rear upper plastics that cover the B and C pillars, you just have to unbolt both seat belts, remove the rear speaker cover, and yank them out. easy.
getting the stupid headliner out was another challage, its wider then the doors opening, so i had to bend it, but its super flexible, so it was NBD.
with everything out, again shows the stock color, really wish it was still this maroon, i dig it.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0120-1-3-1.jpg
last time, when i used my firends paint gun, it shot out all that spider web shit right? its because it was having the glue mix with the air to such a fine degree, it jsut dried instantly.
so i went to this place that sells really good... crap... and picked up this baby, a medium viscosity gun. it was recommended by a "pro." so i figured, for 18 bucks, you cant go wrong.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0113-1-2-1.jpg
hard to tell from the picture, but its harder to tell when its in the car, just how dirty these things get. poor headliner, but im like "extreme make over home edtition" and im gona make you into something awesome!
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0115-1-3-1.jpg
the pillars are going to be easy to wrap, but they will take up fabric because of the angle, and im getting low, idk if i will have enough for the B and C pillars or if i will have to buy more. if i do, ill find some one who wants some fabric and they can go in on it with me.
(and i have the coolest shoes ever.)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0117-1-1-1.jpg
as for the rear B and C pillar plastics, im going to dremel off that little hook, so it will lay smooth over it, i dont use it anyway.
took the headliner, laid it on the floor, pulled my fabric over it, and measured it out. i wanted to leave enough to wrap it around the edges, even though our headliners edges are covered by the interior plastics except in the front and rear. it will insure a good finish.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0121-1-1-1.jpg
snip snip and its ready for a face lift. maybe tomorrow i will do it, idk, ive got shit to do.

This makes me want to go out and work on my car lol. Looking at how the Rucas, toe rods, fit together shows me that I should do those together instead of Rucas first and then toe rods later, like I had planned.
Preciate it.
If your car is low low...you'd need both at the same time. You cant just get a RUCA and expect the stock toe arm to have enough adjustment, it wont. Hell, you even get to a point that the stock traction rods will need to be upgraded to adjustable ones.

keep it up man i really like following it through
thank you. its enjoyable for me as well.
I certainly hope a mod doesn't lock this. They seem to have this mindset that if you're not doing massive overhauls to your car it's not worth it's own thread.
Well done so far, I like the detail and pictures.

and whats wrong with the flares? i think it will be cool. plus, my rear fenders are hammered to shit, they are bottle capping. one side was repaired, so there is bondo over there... so idk, figured id just cut them all out and try something a little less common.

its up to this point that i was banned from NWN, so this is still back in april, but new to the internet.
after i had my doors wrapped, i was sure that i wanted to suede my shit out. so i went to work on my a pillars.
i used the same process, but with these, i took a paint brush as well as te spray gun, and made sure i had a good even coating of contact cement on both the fabric and the A pillars.
it was very easy, i just stuck it down on the top part, and then pulled and worked my way down, i had my mother hold the fabric up as i worked my way down the pillar, it came out awesome.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0951-1.jpg
then after the top was done, i flipped it over and took the paint brush and painted all along the edges, as well as the overhanging fabric. i let it hang over about 1/2 and inch, i wanted to be sure it was plenty secure and wasnt going anywhere.
i let it sit for a few minutes till it was tacky to the touch, then just folded and pulled. you will need to cut relief areas around the curved parts, to allow it to couture to the edge of the pillar.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0953-1.jpg
this area was especially difficult to get it to stretch, i had to cut alot of grooves in it, but it turned out perfect.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0954-1.jpg
after you do the first, the second one is much easier.there is no real learning curve for this, because after i did the first, the second was ridiculously easy, i didnt take pics because it was just the same process.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0966-1.jpg
i dont think i said it yet, but after the pillars, i was getting ready to attempt the headliner... but there was no way i could do it. the area near the sun visors was impossible. so i took it to my upholstery guy, and for 55 dollars, he did it. turned out awesome.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0959-1.jpg
now i only have a few things left to wrap: the B and C pillars, and the sun visors (which will be hand sewn for 150 bucks.) but there is one more thing that doesnt match... well two, but i only took care of one for now. that the rear view mirror. its light grey just like the rest of everything in that car. but i knew jsut the product.
SEM spray dye.
i didnt have any of the primer for the plastics (which i do recomend, its also made by SEM.) so i used just a plastic primer that i had lying around.
fist of course, tape off the mirror part:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0960-1.jpg
then to make sure its perfect, just stick a razor in between the mirror and plastic and trace.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0962-1.jpg
all items ready for paint are placed next to eachother.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0963-1.jpg
i just took the screws and screwed the mirror down into the cardboard for easy coating
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0964-1.jpg
after i primed the pieces, i hit it with the SEM plastic dye. i do multiple light coats, not one heavy coat. t probably did 5 coats on the mirror, and 3 on the rest of the parts, which are just the hardware for the sun visors.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0968-1.jpg
then let dry and reinstall.
was really hard to get a picture w/o a flash during the day of the interior. and to make it so you could tell it was suede... so dont mid the over exposure.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1007-1.jpg
now onto th next project for the day:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0991-1-1.jpg
leds. gotta love them. that one is for the dome light, its a pretty simple install, so i didnt cover it. just pop off the plastic cover (there is a spot for a flathead to fit in.) then swap bulbs.
ill post a picture here when i take the time to do a night shot of it, its very bright.
and i also bought some licence plate led lights, one of mine was burnt out, so i figured why not. leds rock becuase they look cool, use no power, and have a crazy life span, i know i wont need to replace them, and i gain HP from the leds drawing less power! :werd:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0992-1.jpg
the install of theses is fairly simple as well, but once i got looking under there, i notced that i couldnt leave it how it was...
here is the whole little light thingy removed:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0993-1-1.jpg
its all rusty and nasty looking. so i decided to fix it.
first i dissesembled, and took notof how it went to gether, pictures came in handy looking back on it...
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0994-1-1.jpg
then i hopped on the buffing wheel and got them all nice and cleaned back up to its origional state:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0995-1.jpg
but they would just rerust, but thats also easy to prevent. so i grabbed some good old rustolium. and laid a healthy coat on it. side by side.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0999-1.jpg
hell, might as well do it to the screws as well. buffed, and ready for paint:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1000-1.jpg
painted:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1001-1.jpg
rustolium takes forever to dry so i set them out and let them cure.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1002-1.jpg
after a while, i reassembled them, and went to install them with the finished product looking like this:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_1003-1.jpg
i was going to do the long metal piece it sits on, but it wasnt rusting, so i left it as is...
but you will take note that they are upside down lol, and that was an issue when i went to reinstall. thankfully i took that original picture, and put them together properly.
later that night, i checked them out, they are super bright! its a cool look, i dig it.
will post picture here when i get a chance at night to take one.
more to come.

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0974-1.jpg
then, pinnacle was having a sale on its carnauba wax... i had to snag it! it came in a awesome little gold bag lol.

hey man, 3 things you should know!
1. those "black things" that were leaking on your valve cover/around it. Cam shaft end caps, correct me if im wrong.
Replace them.
2. Those bolts are "locking", they stay in one spot. you are supposed to mark off where they were in the stock position, hence the notches.
3. I don't recommend keeping the honda bolts on your car. Suspension bolts are industrial grade, hence the 8 on the back. They are supposed to hold a LOT of pressure. Honda bolts may or may not. Go pick some up from nissan, i bought all 4 for the front brand new for 25$. thats nothing compared to risking a bolt snapping and then your car gets fucked up!!
good work man, and holy shit your ek hatch was nice

i suppose this will be considered maintenance as well? :hahano:
i got this serious thing like 3 years ago, and never installed it, then i installed it like 3 months ago, but didn't wire it into power. so i decided to finally do that 3 days ago.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0004-1-1.jpg
i have an extra cig lighter socket that im going to wire in under the dash so i dont have that wire going across my lap.
its not too messy under there, a few wires just hanging out tho... i was curious where they went, so i followed. looks like they disappear behind the center console. ive nver taken the center console apart on this car before, and i make it my job to investigate my cars in that manner, i have done it with ever car ive owned. so i opened it up.
first remove the ebrake cover/ arm rest. its only a few bolts.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0007-1-2.jpg
^^^looks fine, nothing out of the ordinary here.
well, there are 2 things tat i dont know what or where they go:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0008-1-1.jpg
that one is th most puzzling... i have no clue what it is, if you know, shout it out for me.
and this one i speculate is for the sunroof that my car doesnt have, which is why its not plugged in. but idk.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0009-1-2.jpg
then to remove the radio, you got to get to theses bolts behind the buttons, i wondered what this little light led to, obviously for an alarm of sorts, but its never on...
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0011-1-1.jpg
other screw is on the other side...
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0012-1-1.jpg
and there is one more below the cubby.
uggh. looks like some cartoys/ bestbuy shitty radio install.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0014-1-2.jpg
here is the end of one of the wires peaking out under the dash when i firsst looked, the one i wanted to find out where it lead too...
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0016-1-1.jpg
led to the little light! well, now i know. but i didint want to get rid of the wires entirly, maybe ill use it later on... so i condesnsed them for use at a later date.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0017-1-2.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0018-1-1.jpg
now to orginize this mess. i was going to fix it all, but it works, and its functional, its just a easy and ugly way to do it. there are worse ways. so i decided to just get it bundled and looking better.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0021-1-1.jpg
all dead ends were separated and bundled, unused clips bundled and separated, and main hot wires bundled.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0022-1-1.jpg
looks way better.
then i condensed them into a single line and made sure they were sturdily in place. also, i know tht no lines will be pinched or pulled or something because now they are all secure. no more mess.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0024-1-1.jpg
i know its kind of unnecessary, i mean, you wont see it. but it would have bugged my knowing the wires were all strewn about in there ugly and unorganized.
it was at this point in time my cell phone rang, and i got called into work :(
so i stopped here.

Your car was originally Auto. You can unplug that ballast resistor and throw it away and tuck the harness.
The cable in the dash is the mechanical safety interlock for the auto. Undo the 4 screws holding the steering column cover on. Pop the top off and the ignition trim. You will see the cable going into the back(opposite of driver) of the ignition cylinder. There is a black clip holding it in. Pull the clip out and it should be free. Snake it out of the dash. Easier when you have the radio out like you do now.

I really enjoy this thread, like I'm actually doing something on my car looking at it, and if nothing else is of value to people, the pictures are all very high quality.
But please for the love of god do not ruin your fenders with those fender flares.

i like the car.. looks clean.
IMO the fender flares won't ruin it either.
you probably know this, but,
your inside shoulders are gonna be caked fairly quickly. are you going to make this a show car? will you keep the power fairly close to stock or plan for upgrading later on?
you're not really strapped with a lot of cash you said right? if so, i think you need to consider that you're going to be having to buy rear tires more often when the inside shoulder of the tread gets bald. do you really want to keep buying tires or have that money for more parts and repairs?
but it's your prerogative. if its your style don't let nobody mess with it.

Wow thanks for intertaning me with all those pictures for the last 20 min. I'm sure somebody told you buy now but since nobody posted anything those bolts on your suspension arms are esentric bolts and act as the factory way to change your camber and toe. So when you removed them and forgot to mark there place you lost your alignment setting.
Also I disagree with people telling you not to put those fender flares on, you should be putting them on asap so you can take out some of that execive rear camber. Kids on this site are going to tell you to lower the car more but if your having so much trouble just getting out of the driveway you should raise it up. A sports car that can't be driven fast makes about as much since as this.http://www.streetsourcemag.com/uploads/Ownerprofiles/layin26s/3122006103135PM14001.jpg

Someone probably already answered this, but the weird bolt with the markings is your eccentric bolt. It is for adjusting alignment from the factory.
The reason it didn't come out was because you need to align that washer with the groove, or else it won't slide out.

if i do decide to do the flares, the wheels will be widened...

the 25mm spaces were to clear the brakes; the rims are low disc for added lip.

anyone witha KA doesnt need over an 8'' rim either, but 9+ is common place. 8'' of rim can fit 265's, which is also more rubber then any grip 240 with a stock KA needs.
its just for style. which is probably why i wont do the flares, at least not now while i have a stock power train. but i have to figure out what im going to do about my rear fenders... bondo around the lip on one side and bottle capped on the other...
my names cameron... i dont see how that would conflict. if your talking about my forum name, its just a screen name, not like i was going for a coolness factor. just put in what came to mind. and if your talking about the thread title... it was just "Fuck" but it was changed by mods to its current state. thats why its called what it is.

Kouki's are SQUARE, fender flares are ROUND.
There is nothing other than that reasoning needed to not put them on. They flow with zero lines, and should ONLY be used as a last resort to accommodate wide wheels on a track car, never on a clean daily IMO.

Since when did Zilvia turn into a fucking picture blog?
PS: WHATS THE FUCKING POINT OF RUNNING 265s when you have so much camber that you're barely utilizing 70% of the contact patch?!?!
WHATS THE POINT OF STRETCHING A 215 ON A 9.5+ WIDE WHEEL?!?!?!?!? Thats taking away hmmmmm 50+% of the contact patch that should be there.
The same point as running all that negative camber in the rear of that Civic.
Drift style yo.
nice car
I like this response.
This. and, whats built about this car? i see a lot of cool DIY stuff.
Kommy........I miss you.
Nice thread you have going on despite what some may think otherwise. Very descriptive and your writing style is entertaining to read.
And nice to see a fellow NWN member on here as well. Keep it up.
No love for this NWN member? lol
Im liking the updates. My main concern.....sideskirts :)

Cheap tires, fender clearance, no side wall flex...not doing it to get traction...
Complete opposite of what your trying to do when you run wide tires.

wont be putting on the flares. not because i dont want to, because i really do, i love ZG flares, and i think it would look aggressive and awesome.
im not putting them on because i cannot find a company to widen the lips on the blitz's. its just the way it has to be, so ill have to figure out what im going to do about my rear fenders.
pulled the differential tonight, just finished. ton of thanks to Matt for helping out.
going to get it welded wednesday.
ordered a ton of things for the bremerton drift event on the 3rd. stay tuned for lots of goodies and detailed installs. should be fun.

subscribed. I also am against fender flares on the S14. Don't fit the car at all imo. pull roll like crazy, but don't put the flares on. I would cry.

you are funny as shit.
i thought the enkies looked god awful with the stagger and the camber, it was just trying way too hard. These wheels look good.
Love the box-o-bolts. im trying to start my own, would have saved my ass plenty of times.

great write-up but why would you get up your driveway buy pulling straight on to it instead of going at an angle

ok SNIP. update.
so, you saw the rims i got. you know the sizes. they are weakish. +32? wtf is this shit.
but oh well. 4'' of lip and i dont mind a spacer.
so, had one of those moments where timing was perfect...
came home from work and pulled up the drive way. dads outside doing work, and im chatting with him, he asks "so when are you getting your new wheels?"
literally at that same point in time, UPS rolls up the drive way and i said: "right meow"
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0007-1-3.jpg
every time i get a package, i open it then and there. even if im running late for something, i will open it. Christmas daily.
they will need some cleaning, but no curbage, and no dents/ding/bends.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0013-1-1.jpg
they are low disc so i bought some H&R 25mm spacers, but i think i can get away with a 20. so i am searching for some hub centric 20mm boltons.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0022-1-2.jpg
they are a 3 piece, but it appears they might be welded, they are at least sealed where the 2 pieces meet, what is below that im not sure, but im told they are welded, while the face can be removed. whihc will be perfect for cleaning.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0014-1-3.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0017-1-3.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0015-1-1.jpg
and what they look like rollin'
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0010-1-1.jpg
you may notice a certine componet missing from the drive train of my car:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0003-1.jpg
me and my buddy Matt pulled the diff 2 nights ago, we encountered a few issues: frozen bolts, stripping (and not the good kind), stupid design, and mysteriously hard to move axles.
but we got it out, and its right now sitting at Garage Autohero, the best shop in WA, getting welded by the man behind the name, Ray. he is hands down the nicest shop owner i have met to this day. love giving him my business and money.
during this removal of the diff, matt noticed 2 things: the locking part of the spl arms was loose on the drivers side, and my rear calipers were seized.
so, im thinking about taking his z32 rear brakes and putting them on. we will see.
now, i talked about my little accident in the parking garage, well here is the damage i sustained:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0004-1-2.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0007-1-4.jpg
its not bad, and not pretty as well. ive got a connection, and its only going to cost me 300 bucks out the door to fix... but it can wait.
so i wanted to see how much spacing im gonna need in the rear, and im pretty set on 25, so i put the 2 25mm spacers i have on the front and rear to see how they looked. the rears i think will be perfect. im trying to get as close to 0* camber as possible, which will require some stretch, but not much.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0011-1-2.jpg
and the front with the 25mm... its too much poke. i think 20mm will be perfect.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0012-1-2.jpg
here is the rear, from the rear.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0019-1.jpg
i still have my alignment form the rpf1's, so camber is whack. here it is under load...
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0023-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0024-1-2.jpg
yeaaaa. so, needless to say, ive got some adjusting to do. but before i could begin, i blew my floor jack, so i couldnt really do anything. so i moved to the next item on the list: my coolant leak.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0034-1.jpg
i cant run at bremerton with this leak, they are SRS about the leaks, so they wont hesitate to give me the boot.
looks like ive got a little bit of leakyness here. but its also just plastered with road grime... they wont catch this leak, its a super slow one, no drip in 3 days. so its pushed down the list of "to do"
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0036-1-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0037-1.jpg
when i was down there, i saw that my tranny was missing a plug, what is this for and should it be plugged in?
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0042-1.jpg
i ordered some tie rods and outters from FRsport, they will be here the 24th, which is tomorrow/ today (12:00) so i was getting ready and checking out the situation (not the guy......)
one side is leaking like a stuck pig, and this side... welll....
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0044-1-1.jpg
good thing i ordered replacement boots!
now ray has the diff, but ive got the cover, so i prepped it for the new gasket. most of the old gasket came off, it just discolored a little, smooth tho.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0051-1-1.jpg
cleaned up my bolts for reinstall.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0050-1-1.jpg
now all i need is the diff back and some fluid, then its back up it goes.
i didnt document the removal because it was messy, and i didnt want to waste Matts time. so i probably wont document the reinstall. DEAL!
so SCCA rules say you need a + terminal cover: check.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0054-1-1.jpg
mmk, now it was time to move on to prep for a water pump install:
first remove the intake tubing, there are only a few things that hold it on (well, mine at least)
bolt 1
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0055-1-1.jpg
detach clamp
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0056-1-1.jpg
unplug
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0058-1-1.jpg
there were 2 plugs... what is this second one and why is it not plugged in?
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0059-1-2.jpg
after that, pull it out.
i decided to take this opportunity to do some maintenance on it, air filter needed a cleaning, so i used the air compressor and some liquids.
you can see it looks like it sucked in a chicken.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0062-1-2.jpg
all sooty and gross, so i just needed to wipe it down.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0063-1-2.jpg
this cars sawp was supposedly done by a shop called "Up Garage" which does legit shit, but the more i look the more i doubt that...
not a big deal, but little shit like this:
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0064-1-1.jpg
all i did was take one bolt off (there was only 2 holding it on, and 4 holes total) twist it, and add 2 more bolts. really, not hard to do. stupid shortcuts like this bug me like no other.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0065-1.jpg
now the fan shroud has to come out, which is ezzz
2 bolts:
one
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0066-1-1.jpg
two
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0067-1-1.jpg
disconnect the hose that clapped on to it at the bottom (just pull) and lift it straight up and out. done.
now disconnect the fan, 4 bolts, 10mm, like everything else. hard to see in the pic, but they are obvious in RL.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0068-1-1.jpg
out. man this is so dirty and nasty, want to get a new one... tomorrow i have to go to the dealership, so ill ask how much for a new one... maybe ill take on.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0069-1-2.jpg
well, now im just going to stop here, once i get the water pump ill finish this up. here is how it sits now.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0070-1.jpg
some SNIP told me to take out this because it was for an auto, so i did. you better be right, or you owe me nudes of your mother.

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0072-1-2.jpg
got a visit from UPS today: more detailing shit.
i LOLd when i saw this box. so funny.
"hey, know how we can make this box cooler?"
"how?"
"easy, get a bunch of mustang pics, print it off a computer, and tape it on."
"dude, that's genius"
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0073-1-2.jpg
so much good shit in here, and i will use it allllll
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0074-1.jpg
im restoring some headlights for a few people, so i ordered my materials, this shit works like magic.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0075-1-1.jpg
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0076-1-1.jpg
look forward to the headlight restoration later on.
i dont think ive show this to you guys yet... the zenki is so ugly with no skirts... kouki skirts for days. 250 bucks, 100% complete, no deep gouges, only paint flaws, end caps, no broken tabs, AND hardware included. DEALZ.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0078-1-2.jpg
they will help my car so much.
then my drift spares, as you saw in the last pic, theses are the most JDM OEM wheels eva.ive got 4, and they were 200$ with rubbers on them, so im content with it. will be roasting them on the 3rd, well, im sure i will beable to reuse... KA powa is weak sauce. plus they are clean.
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z305/dirkadirrka/DSC_0079-1-1.jpg
