Hey guys,

I just did a search on voltage regulator and came up empty handed. Lemme describe what's going on. I just bought a new alternator from autozone, installed it, and now i'm in the process of testing it. I set up my volt meter and it reads only 6v DC. So i had my friend rev the car very slightly to see if the voltage goes up and sure enough, it did. Isn't the voltage from the alternator supposed to be constant at around 12 -14v? Where is the voltage alternator, how can i test it, and where can i get a new one?

My second question has to do with this darned annoying clicking sound that is coming from my engine bay. It sounds like it's coming from the head. I'm not sure whether it is the valves, injectors, or cams. Wondering if anyone can give me some tips on how to pinpoint the sounds. Or better yet, inform me of any common clicking sounds that occur in KA's.

Thanks in advance

Andy

The Ka is a pretty noisy engine ... it can be your injector clicking or your valve i would not care much about that.. :) change your oil maybe it could help

um, the noise could be from alot of things. The easiest way to find out where its coming from is using a stethescope(sp) and trying to find the noise that way.

The alternator should be putting out more than 12 volts to the battery when its operating. The voltage always stays the same, the amps go up as the RPM's go up however.
