im in the process of putting on my new oil pump/front cover, and i noticed the head gasket just went into 3 slices when i accidentally hit it... this ok? or will it leak?

youre doing it all wrong. (according to the fsm) do it the right way.

well the fsm says to take off the head, but there is no need to do that, it seems almost pointless...

my friend replaced his front cover by just removing the upper oil pan.. shit my other friend didn't take of neither and just replaced the front cover...

if youre friend didnt take off the oil pan OR the head then im pretty sure he warped or cracked something... lol

Nah, just gonna be tedious putting the pump back on. Its gonna be tight...

as for timing chain wear, is there anything i should look for? from what i see the timing chain looks fine, there's not that much wear on the guides, so i guess i'll just leave the timing chain...

You can't really see anything wrong with the chain by visual inspection unless your chain is completely fubar. I had my NDI inspect mine. You might want to change yours to be safe.

I'll vouch, it's no fun. And 9/10 time you end up having the front cover leak when it pushes all of the sillicone off the flange
