well today was an adventure. I almost set my car on fire. I was about two blocks from the body shop when my girlfriend and I notice a strong a s s smell in the car. At first i was like damn i drove my car a little too hard and thats why i have that smell, but then the smell got strong and i started getting light headed. so i turned down the air conditioning and was like who cares it can't be my car. the light turned green and i gave the car some gas and noticed it bogged down like a [email protected] I was like wtf?? so i pulled off the road, hopped out, and popped the hood. to my suprise i find the hose to the fuel filter had exploded and was spraying fuel all over the place. first thing that came into my mind was that this is when the engine explodes and i die with my car. when that didn't happen i decieded that it would be a good time for me to shut the motor off and push the car away from the pool of gas. luckly the shop i took it to was right next door to a mechanic, and the owner changed the hose for 25 bucks. so my car is now waiting till monday when i call the guy to tell him what color i want it. thank god that fuel didn't exploed. i guess it wasn't my cars time to go...

I have an extinguisher of Halon 1211 (20 lb one) in my back seat at all times.

Make sure the car is properly washed before painting! Residual petro must be removed or the paint will discolor and bubble up.

Wash it really good before the paint shop.

hmmm how was your car running if your your fuel supply line exploded?

and u did get ripped off on that hose replacement :)

but anyways, good thing u and your car are ok.

oh and btw, if it was the line before the fuel filter (in the direction of the engine), it might be a good time to replace the filter.

kreator, the reason that the car was still running was that the line had not completely blown off the fuel filter, had developed a large gash in it. I would assume that part of the hose had weakened and that it just gave way. So some fuel was still able to get to the motor. when i gave it gas when leaving the light the car almost died, but apparently there was still enought fuel getting to the motor to allow it to idle. I know i got ripped off on the fuel replacement but it was hot *** hell in sacramento and i didn't want to deal with it at the time so i was like fu*k it just take care of it. I plan to change that damn filter asap as soon as i get the car back from the shop.

Wishbone i still don't get why you called me a dumbass, i don't know if your serious or just joking around.

anyways personally after an accident like that i think its time to just get a new motor.
