finally~~!!! i'm getting some new rims now...
i was looking at 5-zigen FN01R-C 17x8 +27 and 17x9 +35 but they didn't have 17x9's.. its' in back order for 2months...
so i switched.. and looked at racing hart C4.. 18x8.5 +26 and 18x9 +39.. i couldn't find any other specs.. no 18x8.. and not a lot of offset to choose from...
can't afford volks.. too expensive..
not decided yet on tires...

When it comes to looks the Racing harts would look a lot better on an S14, but the fno1rs have better offsets, and I am not a fan of 18s.

y not 18? i'm pretty new to drifting...

are you making 300+hp?
if so.. then you can drift those 18s

but if you still have a ka
go with 15 or 16s

both wheels looks good
but if i where you, i'll go with the 5 zigs 16 inch (if there is one)

edit:
i forgot
its not about the diameter.. its about the width

edit again: i didnt see you have an s14...
imo, s13 looks good on 16
s14 looks good on 17.. maybe 18.. but if you have the power to rotate that wheel..
oh and s14 will look good with 16.. but it has to be pretty wide.. like 8 inch or more..
depends on your use though..
if its strictly a drift car.. go with the one that will actually help you on the track
if its just a daily driver and you want it to look pimp.. go with 18s then

YES YOU CAN DRIFT ON 18s w/ a stock KA!
Casper drifts on 17s w/ his Stock KA!!
18s...think about your TIRE SIZE. sidewall? what if the tire is stretched.

ill be drifting on 18s soon ;)
17s for sure soon.

anyways, wheels are hotness! but too bad the offset is crappy :( but still...
congrats!!

Why are there so many threads about what wheels for drifting.

It's like, what color should I paint my car for drag racing.

what offsets and tires would you recomend then? dousan36?
i thought those offsets were pretty good.. no??

if you're talking about power overing on late turn ins, then yes 18's on stock KA. it has all the torque that you need for that. but
if you're talking about connecting all the turns and 4 wheel drifting... then NO! you don't have the power for it.

nah driftheaven, you arent thinking about it

think the width of a wheel (let's say 18x9)

now the tire size (stretched tire)...
think of the sidewall size and how much flex it will have. the sidewall will be very small
now take into account the type of tire (lower power=less sticky tire, possible used tires)

its very well possible

ok first of all, what tire maker makes a hard sidewall but not sticky?
second, the weight of the rims 18 vs 16, third the diameter of the rims with tires on. 18x9 stretched or not you still have more contact patch than your 15 or 16x7 rims. so.....

so YOU THINK about it...

Charlie, wassup man... anyway check it out-
18s DO weigh more than 16s for sure. But 16 inch tires are much heavier than 18 inch tires. The weight of the 18s with tires is still more than 16s with tires, but not nearly as much as you imply (or i think you imply).

Also, when comparing diameters, lets keep a consistant width. so 16x9s. That makes a lot more difference. 2+ inches of width to the rim is considerable wieght. So now the weights of the 16s are closer to the 18s, but not quite. So lightweight advantage goes to the 16s. Ok.

But lets talk tires. Assuming same company and series, we'll run 225/50/16s and 225/40/18s. The 16s will aave much more sidewall flex (and more grip because less deformed contact patch because of less stretching due to a taller sidewall. So when breaking them loose, the 16s sidewall will flex more, and the contact patch will not move (scrub) as easily. For the 18s. Much less sidewall flexing, so when breaking loose, they are much more willing to scrub immediately. BUT, once broken loose, you WILL need sufficient power to keep them spinning and transitioning between corners-- thats where I think you have a case. This will be harder for the NA KA (Not that it cant be done, it would just be a LOT easier with SR or KA-T).

Anyway, in conclusion, everyone is right and we all can hug each other... errr. lets not. I think if you are good enough drifter, 18s in rear of stock KA should be fine (I would go 17s front for more sidewall flex, and a little bit better grip when entering). If you are beginner, just cause of beginners tendencies and lack of skil... go 15s or 16s.

good speech.
:)
charlie: when i get some on my car you can try it!
see what u think.

i still use 15s because of low power and primarily lack of skill. and thin wallet!

i am definately a beginner but i like i said before i want to look as pimp as i can be and at the same time i want to just make sense on my wheels an dmy tires..
so i'll use my stocks when i go to tracks... on the streets i'll look as hardcore professinal drifter look i can be..

so what size of tires should i go for?

you know what dorifto180sx.... im the kinda guy that dont argue here at the net, it's pointless. but i'll be happy to watch you try it.
because i've seen hiro, the manager of signal auto tried it on his s14 with stock KA. he borrowed my friends 16 because he is having a hardtime doing it. but maybe because it's just him.
