I can get a pretty descent pricing on these wheels.
5zigen FN-01R or ProN1's
what would u recommend for my 89 S13 Fastback.
Iam new to this drifting so ill be practising with these for now.

Ive read enough about them through search but i just want to hear opinions on which to get.
17x7.5 should fit ok on 4lugs correct? or 16's?

hahahahaha
if you are NEW drifter...
dont cry when you bend them! because you will!

learn to drift on the stock 15s
if you break them or bend them you wont be upset
tires are CHEAP too! (i buy at least 2-4 new tires a month from drifitng==you do the math..FM901s and ES100s)

yeah... damage comes with the territory. even on a parking lot you risk damaging the rim... from blowing out a tire on a peice of debris to having a suspension component snap and rolling the wheel onto the rim. especially for "practice"... why use nice wheels?

hmm... i get my drift wheels from a junkyard. like... 16x7" chrome wheels (bling bling) with khumo 712's for $50 a pair :p

my last set was a pair of M30 wheels (RWD offset at least) with Yokohama snow tires for $25 a pair.

i cant drift on crap tires
i go as fast as i can and try and link corners (which i do ok)
chokudori is more stable w/ stickier tires.
i cant drift on crap tires. need consistency. the faster you go the stickier tires you need. taniguchi used to drift on semi-slicks. gotta have complete control. crap tires just dont offer that.

just my PERSONAL preference.

yeah... well, my first organized event i was happy to be on crap tires. It made the day more enjoyable since I didn't have to worry about getting the car sideways, and just had fun throttling the car through the turn. Didn't really know what to expect since I had never been to an event like that, so it was nice to be able to just go out there and just enjoy sliding.

couldn't keep speed up at all though (which DID hamper the fun a bit), so next event i'll be running 712's (225 wide), which aren't too "crappy" for a street tire (compared to snow tires at least). If I wasn't getting new wheels and tires for autox I'd probably get another pair of 17x8's and run the Goodyear F1's I have sitting on my porch, or maybe run my old FM901's.

Although, if I were to do it again, I wouldn't have used such crappy tires in back to start with, and maybe have let Kookz use them. With the amount of power I have I should've run the Fm901's all around (esp with my car's tendancy to oversteer as it is). Driving Kookz's car wasn't as fun with the understeering tendancy (might've been tire pressure, or having the seat set for someone like 6'3 and I'm like 5'11), so next event we're working on who's running what tires and such.

i wouldnt run 712
my friends (3 different people w/ different cars..tt z32, s13, s14)
used them
HATE THEM
why? they get greasy and really unpredictable when hot. slip all over.
most moved over to dunlop fm901 or yoko es100 an dhappy
the z moved to RE790 (i think that's the model) and was pleased
es and fm901 are CHEAP and perform well
im supposed to get some advan Neova AD07 but they didnt have the size i wanted..only 195/55/15 and no 205/55/15 so im goni got stick w/ the yokos. might try some bridgestone up fornt next and the ES100 in the back..see how that feels.

if you cna, of course bring a pair of each tires mounted on some wheels haha...:) or 'borrow' someone else hehe...
