I hate to do this, but I'm getting out of the 240SX game. I feel I've done all I need to with the platform and am moving to the Miata game.
1992 Nissan 240SX base model. No sunroof, manual windows, locks. The lightest 240SX (approx. 2650 lbs right now). 139k miles. Stock KA24DE runs BEAUTIFULLY and has been a strong, reliable motor. Car gets oil changes every 3 months, whether it needs it or not. Always has as long as I've owned it. Here's some history. I bought the car in July, 2006 on Ebay. I lucked out on finding a well-maintained stock 240SX for a reasonable price. It was my daily driver until about 2008 when I started autocrossing. I've put a lot of time, effort, and money into improving the suspension.
Suspension:
Koni yellows
Eibach ProKit springs
Tein camber plates
Energy Suspension poly bushings all around, including steering rack and sway bar bushings
Peak Performance subframe bushing inserts
Whiteline front swaybar w/ heim joint endlinks
Progress rear swaybar w/ heim joint endlinks
Tein inner and outer tie rods
Alignment: 2.5 degrees camber front, 2 rear: 2 mm toe-out front, zero toe rear.
Tires/wheels:
16 x 8 Sportmax +15 offset w/ 225/50/R16 Kumho V710s with approx 60% tread left
Stock steelies w/ cheap street tires (useable tread left)
Engine/Drivetrain:
DC Sports header, resonated test pipe, Skunk2 3" catback. Kinda loud for daily use.
AEM intake w/ K&N filter
J30 VLSD (whines a little but has never given me problems despite a year plus of autocross and a few track days.)
A/C components have been removed (53 lb weight reduction).
Repairs since I've owned it: Clutch hydraulic damper box removed. No more hydraulic clutch issues. Preemptively replaced both front ball joints with new Moog pieces. Replaced water pump. This is all I've had to repair in the four years and nearly 20k miles I've had the car. It has been one of the most reliable vehicles I've owned, along with the Maxima. I'm very meticulous about maintaining my cars. Here is your chance to own a 240SX that hasn't been claimed by a drifter.
Condition
Body is in excellent shape. It seems all 240's rust, but it is minimal on this car. There is some rust on the body. The unibody and undercarriage are solid. These cars tend to rust around the front framerails and suspension mounts but this car does NOT have this problem. The only rust worth mentioning is cosmetic.
The interior is REALLY nice. Most 240's have cracked dashes, but mine is PERFECT! I'm particular about maintaining a clean interior since I tend to spend a lot of time there :) There is a hole in the carpet, but otherwise the interior is very near mint.
This would be a great car for someone to learn to autocross in, or a track toy, or throw a quiet exhaust and daily drive it. It is very well balanced, ask those who have co-driven it. It probably is not the best platform to run in DSP, but makes a nice car to have some fun autocrossing. Throw an SR20DET and run SM. Daily-drive it. Track it. Lots of potential uses for this car. I've just moved on to a different platform. Runs 1:55:666 at MAM with a slow driver. I would throw some track brake pads on it before taking it back to MAM. It has Duralast pads since I wore out my HP+ pads at MAM.
Please call anytime to come look at the car. Asking $3750. Located in Bellevue, NE.
