I pulled out the head unit that came with my car and when i put it back in, the FM radio didn't work. It only picks up a couple of channels, basically all fuzz. I then installed my new head unit and I have the same problem. I grounded the head unit to a good location. What should I check? It's a 93' S13 coupe. Thanks in advance.

just curious, have you attach the antenna to your old or new unit when you are testing it ?

i hooked up the blue antenna wire from my head unit to my antenna wire on my 240. I don't remember the color though. It didn't work with either head units. It worked before on the old one before I had pulled it out. I put the old one back in and it didn't work.

that blue antena wire is just used to make the power antena go up & down. you need to connect the actuall antena, i'm not sure what the stock conector is like on the 240 since mine came with a hacked antenna cable but that has to be hooked up or you'll get nothing

The blue wire coming out of the reciever is the wire for a power antenna. It just tells it when to go up and down. The antenna wire that carries the signal is a kinda thick black wire that whould have 2 prongs sticking out. For most recievers(everyone I've seen) you need an antenna adaptor. Only a couple of bux and you can pick it up at Wal-Mart. Plug the antenna signal wire into the adaptor and then take the other end and stick it into the reciever. The plug on the reciever might be built into the unit or it may be hanging out, depending on the brand and model.

You might(probably) also need an adapter to attach the antenna cable to your new headunit. You can pick one up from any walmart store. Thats weird, my headunit wouldn't turn on without the correct antenna wire plugged in.
