Attenion PFC Users w/ ECCS Problems

Not sure if this applies to everyone With an ECCS/Fuel Pump problem but wont hurt to check out

So i was having an Issue with my PFC resetting itself while I was driving and it got so bad that PFC Commander would not start up past the Start up Screen.

Reinstalled the Stock ECU and parts and the car would run like a champ.

I thought it was the PFC so i sent it off to Apexi and after $170 Got it back and now the PFC wouldnt even boot up :bash:....
I could Jump the ECCS (EGI Relay) and the PFC would boot up.....

THE Problem:
Started checking the Brown plug since I saw this nastiness (as well as it having the ECCS wire)

Pulled out my Handy dandy Wiring schematic and start tracing wires
luckily the first wire I started with turned out to be the culprit, ECU Pin 4 to the Brown plug next to the battery tray Red/Black wire.
I got continuity to the plug but when testing after the plug on the Chassis side I not NO continuity. Gave a little Tug on the wire and it popped right out.

The wire had corroded and broke in half at the connector pin
More than likely due to letting the plugs hang outside of the engine bay exposing them to the elements and having crappy 20 year old seals


THE FIX:

Went and snagged another plug from an extra harness, Cut, Soldered, and Heat shrinked and now runs like a champ!! :)

why doesnt my fuel pump prime, is it my ecu??

^ check voltage on harness on your fuel pump then check fuse

hey im having the same issue so i checked my voltage to fuel pump relay and its only showing 5 volts.what could be the problem?

I just had this issue on my RB25 PFC with a WS wiring harness. Did you check the fuel relay and double check the voltages you're seeing in and out of it? Makes sure you're getting 12v going into it and 12v outs. If you're not, then double check the ECU and make sure you're getting 12v too. My issue turned out that the WS harness has a generic ECCS relay wired into the harness, the relay for some reason isnt letting 12v thru it, into the ECU. Its only letting partial voltage for some reason.

As mentioned previously it's usually the secondary power wire or eccs wire that is not wired up when the swap is done. Usually the stock swap will run without both eccs and ecu power wires wired up in most cases but the PFC needs both and constant power and that's why people run into this issue when they first install their first standalone unit on the car...
