Slang: talking the talk These slang terms are not widely used but may be common in some localities
bit bucket- n. An imaginary place where lost computer data goes.
calendar- v. To examine schedules to determine a time when two or more people would be available for some purpose.
chewy- adj. Cool or interesting.
chips- n. Money.
cut- adj. Muscular with very little fat.
color of someone's money- n. The amount of money that someone has with them. Example: "We might be able to make a deal if I can see the color of your money."
digits- n. Phone number.
drop science- v. To share knowledge or information, as in "Bill Nye likes to drop science."
Egypt- n. a very distant place as in "I'm not going to that place, it's way out in Egypt."
face time- n. Time during which one is talking with someone face-to-face as in "I'm going home to get some face time with the wife."
411, the- n. Information as in "I've got the 411 on our new neighbor."
fresh- adj. Nice.
funkdafied- adj. Strange. Messed up.
g- n. A friend or associate; abbreviation of gangster as in gang member.
gack- v. To pretend to play a musical instrument, especially a guitar.
game- n. The ability to influence or persuade, "Mr. Collins got more game than anyone in the neighborhood."
get medieval- v. To beat or attack.
gravity check- n. When an individual or object falls when snowboarding, surfing, mountain biking, and etc.
graze- v. To eat, especially at a buffet table where you can move around choosing this or that.
gumption- n. Spirit, energy. Example: "Sometimes it takes gumption to stand up for what you think is right.
hit me up- v. Call or page me. Ask for something.
hoover- v. To clean. (comes from the name of a brand of vacuum cleaners). To eat very quickly.
jam out- v. To play a musical instrument with great energy.
juju- n. Influence, as in "He's feeling good because of the juju of being on vacation."
kickin it- v. Hanging out together.
krunk(crunk)- adj. Fun. Wild.
lights are on- Parents are in the room.
moded- adj. Not working properly, weird, as in "The computer got moded and locked up." Embarrassed after doing something stupid, "I was moded after falling in the pool with my clothes on."
motivate- v. To go.
mouse- v. To push around or bulley.
my bad- A phrase used to admit fault, an apology, "Sorry, my bad."
negatory- No, negative. Example: "My answer is negatory."
on the real- Not joking. Telling the truth.
parley/parlayin- v. Sit and talk. Hanging out.
peace out- Goodbye. "See ya later. Peace out."
peeps- n. My friends.
power- n. The remote control for a television. Example: "Hand me the power."
sheep- n. People who choose what to do by what is popular or in style at the time and shun originality.
skid- n. Someone who is usually in need of a bath and clean clothes; grungy.
slow your roll- You should relax.
spun out- adj. A confused or stressed state of mind. Preoccupied with a particular problem.
straight up- v. Being truthful.
swag- n. Material, stuff.
tin- n. A badge carried by a law enforcement officer. Example: "The plain clothes officer had to show his tin."
wilding- v. To have fun by acting crazy with a group of friends.
you go girl- Phrase of encouragement. Example: "That's the way, you go girl!" "Ideals are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them, but like the seafarer, you choose them as your guides, and following them, you reach your destiny."
