today i just got all of my harness's for my dual cam swap in my 89 240. well i hooked a battery to the car and all the lights work but the igniton will not turn over. now i've seen this before with altimas but i wasnt sure if it was something that i could fix or if i would have to replace it. the ignition wont even move at all. the key goes in but still nothing. i played with it for over 3 hours and i'm just so anxious cause ive had the car for a year now and i'm just finally getting it close to driving. so if i have to replace it do you guys kjnow a way to hotwire it or how to hook a different kind of ignition to it. i really appreciate it if you could help me since i have dial up i cant o much searching. i will appreciate any kind of help. thank you:bash:

The key turns but no crank? The key is stuck and won't turn at all?

disconnect the tumbler ( behind ignition switch ) stick your key in the small slit on the tumbler, push it in, turn it as you're trying to start your car regualrly and hold till it starts. never heard of this happening before. sure ur steering wheel isnt locked? if so move your steering wheel slightly to the left or right depending which way it was locked and turn your key.... might be something as simple as that . HAHAHA

i had the ignition off of the steering column so it just wouldnt turn but i took the tumbler out and i turned it and nothing happend so i think something is wrong wit my starter but i'm not sure. i can hear the relay clicking but still nothing

this may sound silly but it happened to me. When you disassemble your ignition and try to start the car with just the tumbler (pictured above) you cannot turn it all the way until it stops. its weird and finnicky, but you only turn it until you hear it try to start, its maybe 3/4 as far as it will actually go. if you just turn it like you would a key, all the way, it won't even think about starting. try it.

On another note with your ignition cylinder, you might have the wrong key, does it work for everything else on the car? if so, you can have the ignition repinned at a locksmith for a couple bucks, thats what i did with mine.

does everything else in the car work? ie. radio, fuel pump priming, etc...?
