Those people are friends of friends of mine. They built it a couple years ago... when they say it's the Junkyard Dawg, they mean it. It's totally slapped together.

It's an interesting proof of concept though. The SOHC 6G72 has some tuning potential, and it's a BIG engine for that car.

I complement that someone did that, but it reminds me of putting a MACK truck Diesel engine with turbo as big as a fat women between the fenders of our car.

My rule, if it does not fit under a stock hood or if it changes the front to rear balance character of the car, it is a non issue.

I bet it will drag nice, good to have drift, drag, street, daily driver, and stock hood at the same time IMHO.

It is a serious effort to have a fast neon. I will give credit for that.

haha... no it's not, this is something built from found/free parts, a totaled Neon frame (look how the rest of the front bodywork doesn't line up), and a worthless old Chrysler/Mitsu V6.

The actual serious efforts to make Neons fast are running 8's in the 1/4 mile, or kicking *** in SCCA SSC, or in SCCA Spec Neon.

It doesn't even take serious effort... look what a friend did with his spare time to his daily driver:

After reading his fine mid 13 second article on his Neon...and all he did, A NON-SPONSORED chap would have to spend around 7K to do the mods he did. Pistons, cylinder touchups, new half shafts (custom) all the fuel management crap, hundreds of hours of thought and labor...and a guy that ran 340 mopars for knowledge. He did not get there easy, I know....he should be running 13's.

Give me 7K, I will show you a high 10 second KAE, N/A

It can be done, I know how as well.

Two 4 barrels and a custom head and intake.. :boink: (especially with my bore and pistons..easy 400HP

It is a good read.

Gooooood luck with that!

If you want to forget streetability, there's an N/A Neon in the 10s, also.

When people ask, my friend usually says that if you copied his setup exactly with retail parts, and bought a brand new Neon to do it with, you'd spend less than a new Civic Si. Parts are cheap for this thing.

cheap cars with cheap speed parts -> <- AKADriver

Money? They barely spent any.

Time? Time with friends messing with cars is always time well spent.
