I've searched but haven't found the definite answer I was looking for, if the answer is out there then mods delete/lock thread if necassary or if someone could direct me to it or pm me the answer rather than wasting a thread, so here we go...

My car feels like it's slowing down after driving for awhile, my brake pedal feels really stiff too. After searching online I found 3 main possiblities which are seized caliper, bmc, and brake booster. I did notice the rear caliper rubber boot came loose on the passenger side, the piston was covered in dirt. I cleaned it as much as I could and I was able to turn the piston back in with no problem. Now could it still be the caliper even if I was able to retrack the piston back in with no problem or is the issue always the brake booster or bmc? I want to sure I'm buying the right part to fix my problem rather than buying all three.

Any help I would really appreciate it

Thanks

Henry

You can test the booster for vacuum leaks. Any mechanic can help you do that....

BMC, rarely this is the problem unless its leaking...

For caliper check, just look for uneven wear on the pads....

Most likely it's the booster diaphgram going bad.

I had a break booster that went bad and caused a vacume leak, everytime i pushed on the petal the idle to droped and made kind of a wheezing sound, so if it does that, its for sure the booster.

did a caliper check and the pads had a slightly uneven wear, BMC isn't leaking so that's ok, still have to check the booster for leaks

idle doesn't drop when I push the pedal down nor does it make a wheezing sound but it still might be a bad brake booster, I just gotta run a vacuum test on it to make sure
