Younger kids care more about image than they do quality of music.
Gaga has done really well in promoting a flambouyant image that probably appeals to younger chicks, if not also the gay dance clubs.
Gage has done really well making herself controversial in impressing & pissing ppl off alike.
Like her or not, you will notice her, and that's the objective.

The music is pretty much super-accesible fluff made for teeny-boppers,
& dancing in the clubs.
That's a very profitable market.

Truthfully I don't see what the big deal is.
It's not like they are blasting this crap everywhere in public.
Nobody's forcing you to listen what you don't want to.
If you're still relying on commercial radio/mtv for music, then you have yourself to blame.
