I need to remove my stock turbo and swap exhaust manifolds on my s13 sr20det motor. I was checking it out and the clearances suck, took me half an hour just to remove the lower heatshield. What is everyone's best way of removing the turbo? Should I remove it still attached to the manifold? Should I unbolt the o2 extension from the downpipe or from the turbo? Any other pointers?
Thanks,

Hey, I did all this a couple of weeks ago, not fun,
but doable, you can not get the turbo off the manifold while it is in the engine bay, you can take the o2 exten pipe off in the bay, but its hard to turn the nuts and bolts, and you will probally break some bolts getting the o2 exten off, I did, it would be best to leave the o2 exten on the turbo, not worth the trouble.
Good luck with it.

Just did this as well.. best way is to remove the manifold with the turbo and extention on there. Just make sure u remember to unbolt all the hardlines (oil/coolant) going into the turbo. Have fun!

I found it easier jsut taking out the manifold/turbo/02 pipe off all at once, saves a lot of trouble imho.
Also, you may want to repalce all those gaskets since you have everything off.
good luck
