May i ask the reason for doing that?

cause i wanted to do somethin ive never seen in a z, and for wheel clearance for drifting mostly, and i had all the resources to do so

You didnt have to do that for wheel clearence and drifting , have you seen pics of my Z and Articdragons plus there is few more that ride super low and drift with out having to do all that unecessary work. Sorry just think its pointless IMO but GL :).

Not sure why yall are ragging on the tubs, it's for wheel clearance. Makes perfect sense.

GLW your project

gotcha. it makes more sense with pix. i don't really see a reason for this tho, but props to you for trying something creative.

brendan90zx
05-28-2010, 12:16 AM
pretty much cause i had resources and gave small chance of giving more wheel clearance in full countersteer lock......

I've had 19x10.5 +22 with 245/40's and 17x10.5 +2 with 225/40 on my fronts and I did'nt rub at full lock. Only angle mod I have right now are PBM 7mm tie rod spacers.

brendan90zx
05-28-2010, 12:34 AM
oh....i have the full max angle kit 18 by 10 in front...and currently it does rub on my stock fender wells, but im building a strictly drift car, thats the one with the tubs

??? Tubs and a wire tuck make the engine bay look way cleaner while allowing more wheel clearance. I see nothing "cold air intake-ish" and those even were not by far the worst thing to happen to engine bays.

helllllll yeah!!!!!!!! agreed with badicalradical i dont really see any negativity going in the tub direction? more clearance, more custom, cleaner look why not for a track car?

I was never against it, just stating that I didn't rub with those sizes. I need angle mod... lol. Did you use PBM or just shorten your knuckles?

There really is no need for it to be honest, as long as the right amount of camber is dialed as well as offset in and anything under 285 is fitted it shouldn't really be an issue. Articdragon192(Edgar) has fit a 18*10.5 +15
285s all around on his z32. OP Are you going to throw some 315's or something up front to drift this bad boy?

articdragon192
05-28-2010, 01:14 AM
Yeah, I've done plenty wide up front without problems. But if you say you're rubbing, then I guess this is your way to fix it. You haven't messed with where the fuca bolts on to though, have you?

brendan90zx
05-28-2010, 01:19 AM
no i have the pbm max angle kit with the 55 degree of angle or whatever it is rated at...i dont know if you have that or any steering upgrades arcticdragon? and no i have messed with that, its not rubbing on my fuca, but yes i am rubbing and hopefully it will help

articdragon192
05-28-2010, 01:24 AM
I just have tie rod spacers. Looking to get the pbm kit as well. But there's a ton of room in there still. Mess with your caster yet?

brendan90zx
05-28-2010, 01:24 AM
anyways...............the reason i posted this is because i was curious if anyone has done this to their z32.. just curious? lol it sort of turned into an argument on how cold air intake is the worst thing to happen to engine bays apparently lol quoted by drftwerks and how tubs are an aweful idea lol, but in my opinion some of the cleanest and sickest cars are tubbed

oh ok yeah i have the spacers in there as well..........and btw powered by max screwed me...............they actually have never tested this kit on a z32.....it doesnt fit the stock tie rod ends like it is supposed to......and they actually told me they never tried it on one

brendan90zx
05-28-2010, 01:27 AM
they said i could return it to them to inform others.....but i still have yet to see them advertise them saying it doesnt fit..........?? it requires modification...........

and arcticdragon i havent really messed with it

You mean the taper is different? I have SPL outers so I could just swap the shanks for those of an S14 and it should fix it.

wow that looks terrible (the wheel i mean) seems as if you have almost no real contact on the inside wheel.

also from my brief run throughs working on Z's i always noticed the placement of the wheel i/e hub assembly puts the wheel generally alot further from the frame compared to your typical S chassis. so i dont really see where you gain hardly anything by tubbing a z32. unless your trying to just be half a millimeter off the ground and just want to clear the upper portion of the frame.

Almost forgot about Harvey's Z.
And Z32 caster is high stock, so camber gain/loss while turning is pretty drastic.

brendan90zx
05-28-2010, 11:25 PM
damn that is some countersteer, and yeah arcticdragon thats what i had to do, it just pissed me off that they actually had never tried to do it on a z before and the design of the spindle is totally differnt than what they thought it would look like hahahah

Yeah, holy ackerman too. Needs knuckles.

He has modded knuckles. Hence the crazy steering angle.

The design is very similar to that of an R32.

Upon looking at that pic of your tubs, it seems you won't have space to change your headlight bulbs!
