hey i just bought an 89 240sx hatch.. and i was looking for a shop that can do a thurough tuneup on the car.. id prefer one that was familiar with the 240sx.. im located in socal.. and for the time being LA county area.. does anybody know of any local shops that know what they're doing?

you should do it yourself
its not difficult at all
the tools required are VERY basic tools. the only thing you mgiht want to RENT is a timing light (you can rent at some auto stores..pep boys, autozone, etc)
everything is really straight-forward
getting over the initial fear of working on brakes and such is intimidating but once youdo it...you'll find out it wasnt as bad as people think.
i dont know any shops just want to suggest this to you.

I'd say, dont do it yourself if you have no idea what your doing. but oh well. :rolleyes:

You learn by doing. A tune-up is one of the simplest things you can do on a car, and definately a good thing to start with.

there's enough info on the web, on zilvia and such and people can ask for help.
everyone has a first time. no one knwos how to do it their first time. gotta start somewhere.

Well, his idea from the start was to look for a shop.
But its true. Gotta start somewhere.
Just read up on it if you decide to go that route and don't think you'll finish in shop time.
