i dl'ed UT2003 demo and i didnt like it. something about the graphics made me a little. i guess i get game-sickness :D nothing beats cs engine, its perfect.

I ping around 85-90 to the sogamed server, which is good considering I live in MS and its in San Jose. The only thing is I never see anybody playing there, maybe if we get a few people to join others will follow.

Yes this is an old thread and bumping since Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is being released and wondering if any of you guys play it since it's currently in Beta (purchase pre-order to gain access).

I currently purchased the pre-order yesterday and thought it's an updated 1.6. Physics are still there and still getting a little used to. Anyone else have any thoughts of this game?

Feels like left-for-dead to me right now. Gun's just don't have that solid 'feel' to them when you shoot. Will definitively take some getting used to.

Also played 1.6 and Source competitively if you want to scrim sometime.

Same here. I stopped playing after 1.6 due to college starting and other games getting in the way. My best friend just got married and he reminded me of our clan from back in the day. I just started playing again and see all these people with 9-10 digit steam ID's and think, 'Damn, my 6 digit steam ID is pretty OG' :ddog:

I honestly am a big fan of the old classic. Even 1.6 was fun to me. Source blows but I'm starting to get used to CS:GO. The learning curve of source compared to classic is so different. IMO the new one is a lot easier to play and catch on. /end useless rant

I used to have a 4-digit account but I got banned for hacking on it (I was bored and wanted to make it more entertaining), and my current account is 6-digits.

I do agree source was awful and was a different game than counter-strike in general and didn't bother playing. However, I also played another mod (I forgot the name) but it was source graphics with 1.6 physics and was suppose to be released back in 2007.

On another note, the transition from 1.6 to CS:GO is not a big change (besides the map physique was nightmare) I was to used to 1.6 maps and noticed it's similar to source.

I plan on playing after work today and hopefully get a long session in.

↑ Death From Above!! I have that server in my favorites, along with some other good ones. There used to be this awesome "Wrath of Khan - Return of the Living Dead" server this guy just hosted out of his basement machine all the time that ran all these cool custom maps and zombiemod, I spent hours on there.

Damn, come to think of it...Day of Defeat sucked me into the world of online PC gaming. I even still have my retail box!!! Ah the good old days, playing on a shitty dial-up connection and before it all went Steam-only. I even trolled the forums occasionally. Talk about nostalgia right now.

It's not quite like that anymore, they reduced the accuracy on the K98 in 1.3...to cut down on "Kar whores" (and make dod_charlie winnable for the Allies) :hs:

I always hated the lack of reality in DOD.

In real life the accuracy difference of a M1, K98K and Enfield are negligible. The M1 actually has significant advantage with its superior sights and stock configuration. The semi-automatic action also actually reduces recoil as well.

Combine that with the equal ballistic proficiency of .303, .30-06 and 8mm...ALL weapons firing these "30 cal" rounds should do the same damage.

MG42, BAR, Mauser, Bren, Enfield, Garand, Springfield ect.

I wish games would think outside the box and move away from tweaking ROF, Damage and Spread - which by in large vary very little from comparable weapons and focus on how to account for ergonomics, reliability and weight to differentiate weapons.
