I want to order my suspension this weekend but I still haven't decided. Im going with Tokico Shocks, but still debating between H&R or Eibach Springs. H&R drops the front 1.7", I think thats a lil too much cuz I live in NYC the roads are rough here.
But the local shop Im getting my DET swap at said since Im swaping the engine I should get better suspension the to handle all the power and suggested the Apexi N1 Kit.
What should I get???

Apexi N1 is 2 grand. That is a lot of money. And they are suposed to be real stiff, pretty close to full race. They are not progressively wound or anything like that either. If you are running 17 inch mags and suspension that hard on your car, chances are you will warp or wave your mags on rough roads... but don't take my word for anything, I am just trying to talk myself out of buying that same suspension.

either H&R's or Eibach's should be sufficient. i don't know if they offer it for the 240 or not, but if i had to do it all over again i would get H&R's cup kit.  IIRC it's 800 bucks for an almost race setup.

97 -> Tokico HTS and eibach sprot lines. Great street setup, nice drop no real problems gettign up driveways and speed bumps. I am sure it will be fine at the track but I may want a stiffer spring.

91 -> OE springs OE shocks. Worked pretty good at Speed trial at VIR. Only really felt the suspention bottom at one point.

H&amp;R makes a cup kit for our cars? I didn't know that.

H&amp;R's lower 1.4/1.3 it shouldn't be that bad. as opposed to Prokits. Chris stout (nismo270r) has them on his car.

Yeah...I took forever for me to save up for the swap...i cant come up with another grand or two for suspension.
Spring wise 95% im gonna go with either the H&amp;R/Eibach, however shocks...my friend had the Blue Tokicos (non-adj) on an Accord and his ride was pretty bouncy. I thought Tokico's were good shocks or do i need the adjusable ones???

grant.......i said i wasn't sure if the cup kit was available or not

ronx777......i have tokico's, i'm not too sure what you mean by bouncy, do you mean harsh or do you mean after you go over a bump the car keeps bouncin around for the next 50 ft like a cadillac. personally i think the tokico's are great, and at least for my car they don't make an adjustable.

KYB AGX adjustables with Jamex progressive wound lowering springs. &nbsp;I kept the struts on 8 in rear and 4 in front and with 17&quot; rims and 40 series soft compound tires. &nbsp; It rode rough as crap but I could take 90 degree turns and hook onto side streets at 60mph with ease. &nbsp;I cut a u turn at my bank and almost launched my friend out the window. &nbsp;Luckily he had his seatbelt on. &nbsp;I took a right hander near my house at 60 and accelerated out. &nbsp; My friend has a probe GT with nitto tires and 16's and he could barely stay on the road at 40.

okay just to clear something up,

i been looking at a sus set up, when looking at the pricing the shocks/struts are priced indivually not as a pair right.

what is a reasonable price for KYB AGX adj???

kyb adjustable, with eibach sportline springs.. it's a nice 2.2&quot; drop.. it rides perfect

does anyone have any photos of there cars with the drop on it? any drops with descriptions would be cool and how much better they handled after it was done... Thanks!

I'll be putting the Tein HA on my car this weekend, assuming I'm not dying in pain from getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow. &nbsp;I have the SR, so I'll let you know how that does with the power.

My 'teggy, sorry, not 240SX (don't got one yet), has Tokico HP shocks with Eibach Sportlines (rear, one coil cut, stupid previous owner). The body doesn't sway as much, but just enough that it would need sway bars and/or a racing seat. The ride is quiet, the car doesn't vibrate or anything. The car bottoms out, however, over dips. The handling is pretty good, but not good enough for me. I need to fix my steering rack this weekend and re-evaluate my suspension. The setup is simple and works well enough for street, but when you really want to push your car to it's limits, that could be a factor holding you back. It's a bit too soft for my needs. Each to their own and driving style! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

tnord: Yeah mah friend's accord would bounce around for the next fifty after hitting a bump/pothole jus like a Caddy or Lincoln with dead shocks.

Here's a car with h&amp;r springs that I got from concept240 (its his friends car)

Here's brian's (from FA) car with before and after shots of his pro-kit <a href="http://plaza.ufl.edu/briand/Eibach%20Install.htm" target='_blank'>http://plaza.ufl.edu/briand/Eibach%20Install.htm</a> and his home page <a href="http://plaza.ufl.edu/briand/index2.htm" target='_blank'>http://plaza.ufl.edu/briand/index2.htm</a>
Here's a few good articles to read for info on pro-kits, sportlines, and h&amp;r <a href="http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/testing.html" target='_blank'>http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/testing.html</a>

then something definitely wasn't right right with either the springs or the shocks, i've got a pretty tight ride with my setup, so i wouldn't base your judgement of tokico's on that experience

could anyone list the different springs available for an s13? I'm still trying to decide. I don't want a big drop (lots of potholes here) but I want better handling, and i've heard some horror stories with the eibach pro-kit on an s13, so i'm staying away from them.

i haven't heard anything bad about the pro kits or the sportlines. sportline's give a bigger drop, like 2.2&quot; in the back and 2.4&quot; in the front? something like that. prokit is like a 1.75&quot; all around. there are sprint springs (i have those, cheap as dirt), it's decent ride. it's starting to get a little bit softer in ride, it was kind of stiff at first, those are a 1.8&quot; drop. i would probably look into the sportlines because it'll drop the front a little more, and since you said you're swapping in the sr, at least that's what i think you said, it'll still be fairly low. the sr is a featherweight compared to the ka, so the front is going to be significantly higher when you finish the swap.

and tokico's are good, i have those in my s13 too. i also hear the kyb agx adj. are good, because they're a little cheaper than the tokico blue's. i got my tokico's for about $100/ea. and i think the kyb's are like $80-$90? correct me if i'm wrong.

How bad is the 2 inch drop for potholes? I've been thinking about intrax springs, but i'm not sure I want to drop the car quite that much...

there aren't any potholes where i live <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> but there are where i don't live! there is one road, going to my friend's house 35 miles away, but they're more like random bumps...just a lot of them. now when i went to kansas city in june last year for a nissan meet, i must have hit a thousand potholes, i thought i was going to kill somebody and i would yell ever time i'd hit one. also having the shocks set at the stiffest and being lost at the time didn't help and i think that's what topped it off. in a pothole infested city, i'd get the 1.3&quot; drop and set the shocks down to &quot;1&quot; during normal driving.

Intax 1.8 front/1.6 rear springs with KYB GR2 shocks...cost me $75 shipped for springs hehe (240sx.org) and $267 for KYBs brand new..(tribalpacific.com). Potholes and Road Dips kill me in GA...ahh. but my ride is pretty smooth though.

i've got intrax springs w/ tokico blues on my s14. i've only scraped it once when trying to back out of a steep driveway too fast (it never scraped before so i thought i'd see how it'd go), but no marks or nething. never scraped on ne potholes at all. it gives a nice ride, but still aftermarket u know? btw, i'm sure this makes a difference, i have no front lip spoiler so that could be why. but yeah, they're not bad. i'm not gonna get a different spring/shock set up. only way i'll ever change it is if i get some nice coilovers one day.
